Running thread

Just booked onto Brigg sprint (North Lincolnshire) for just over a weeks time. Not done one before, wondering about gear and stuff as I don’t really have the cash to get a trisuit really this month!

Indoor swim? If not you'll need a wet-suit never mind a tri-suit!!

Got my tri-suit from wiggle, £35 i think, got a wet-suit from Decathlon for £80 in a sale. What's the distance?

Indoor yes. I have a wetsuit for outdoor swimming but nothing for indoor besides swim briefs and a cap! 400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.

At least you gave your knees a rest..
I only do short runs now,and often mix them up with short sprints...all geared towards once a week five a side footy..and Tennis,..a great game for fitness.
Never really struggled with my knees. My ITB on the other hand..... The pain of the foam roller is like no other pain on earth.

I'd like to some more 10k's at some point, and maybe another Half Marathon.

I've got a lot of stuff on a work, so it's great to just head out of the house and not think about anything other than trying to put one foot in front of the other.

I'm going again tomorrow, and I'm just going to try and build up time on my feet rather than distance. Yesterday I did just over 20 minutes, and tomorrow I will try for 25 minutes. The next run will be 30 minutes, and then I'll stick at that for a week or two until I'm comfortable. The distance should take care of itself. I hope to be back up to sub 25 minute 5k in 10 weeks or so.

My fastest 10k (race) was 43:45, but I'm 5 years older now.
That’s a fantastic time, even more so as my 10k pb is 43:53 but that was probably 8 years ago on the Preston 10k. Just getting round a 10k would be an achievement now but I know if I persist I’ll get back to a decent level. My benchmark always used to be 5 minute k’s, once I’m at that level it’s chipping away at that.

43:45 is a long way off now. I was down to 61Kg at the time, and since I stopped running, I am up to 67Kg and going in the wrong direction. That's half the reason why I've started again.
