Running thread

I run everyday mate, not been injured since i started running everyday so for me it works, was always picking up injuries before.
So in answer to your question, get yer laces tied, its a great day for it out there
And on that note...

...checks into pornhub...

Jesting aside just sorting tunes and ill be out. Gentle 5k I think...

You have years on me mate, I had never run distance at all up until my 40th birthday party when I told everyone i would be running marathons in my 40s, I was 15 stone and smoked 30 a day, everyone wet emselves.
Started doing parkruns once a week then a few 10ks everynow and again. Lockdown this year changed it all for me, inspired by folk that run everyday, i started doing at least 3 miles a day, which i still do, Im down to 12 stone and no longer smoke, did a 28 mile run after 30 days of running everyday, now have 5 marathons in the bag and love it. Im 44 and am fitter than Ive ever been. You just have to want it mate, better to be someone who does it, rather than someone who talks about doing it.
Go for it pal, you wont regret

If you want to race 10K or improve your 10K time then you will benefit by running a distance longer and slower in training at least once a week......say 14K. This will improve stamina and help maintain speed towards the end of the 10K.

If seemed to work for me and caused my distances to esculate so that I improved my 10k time when training for half marathon and my half marathon time when training for full marathon.

When marathon fit, the 10k becomes a walk in the park :)

I was probably as fit as ever in my mid 40s whilst marathon training.
Cheers :)

Ran this morning at 6.30am after a few Warsteiners last night.. 6 mins slower on a 10 k than last week. Urgh. Why oh why did I drink the night before.

Treadmill today for the first time in a year, having only trained outdoors in that period.

Ran for an hour and it barely touched the sides.

I am genuinely over the moon with how much I've improved and the shape I'm now in.

Much love to all on this thread who guide and encourage.
Would love room for a treadmill.. do you set a pace and just see if you can stick to it?

9k today, just before dark and in the drizzle. Love this time of year for running. Not done much pace work for a while so cruised round in 47 minutes. Felt great but I know I need to cut back on the chocolate/cheese etc to improve significantly.

Are people booking runs for next year or waiting til after the winter to see if events are likely to go ahead?

The chocolate and cheese thing mate - educate me?

I ran for the he first time in eight days this evening, with a slow 10k. Very glad I did it, and my legs are a bit tired now. I'm not a big fan of running in the rain.

I'd been back in the gym since they re-opened, so haven't been running for a couple of months. Now that they're closing from Thursday I'm gonna try and get out again.

Played my first XI a side game this weekend and was blowing out my backside after 5 mins, so I want to be fitter for the return of those games. Running on a field is so much harder than running on pavement.

Grass is a b******* for running on, but does build endurance up. I cannot be arsedwith it.
