Running thread

Not posted for ages but still at it in various forms.

Still loving the hills at St Helens Dream pretty regularly. Playing loads of 6 a side, spinning and even throwing in a few tabata sessions.

Fittest I’ve ever been tbf.
Nice one mate. I went over and did that Dream park run about 6 months ago & enjoyed it - like you say though, it’s not flat is it?!

10k this morning in 51.30 with a brutal hill to finish. Feel like my pace is coming back slowly and I’m beginning to actually enjoy running again. Want a sub 48 by end of October then 45 or so by end of November and I’ll them know I’m back to close to where I used to be.
As the years go by I’ve stopped targeting new PBs - now I’ll take just keeping to /close to, my old PBs ;-)

Awesome. I've eyed it up a few times but have never actually done it. Might aim for it next time.

Let us know how you get on and what you think of it.
Will do
It's my 3rd one here.
Last year I did it in 1.55. The hills at the start are brutal though, but towards the end it gets easier.
Thats said its a tough half

There’s one particular hill there that takes me just over 2 minutes top to bottom it’s absolutely horrendous mate.

When I first started going there it was 3 minutes so I use that as a pretty good barometer of my progress :)

Cracking place to go when you really fancy putting yourself through the wringer.

Stretford Parkrun this morning in 24:04, a PB at Parkruns, knocking 25 second off my previous PB, three years ago. Very pleased with that. My next goal is to get below 24 minutes, but I'm not sure that will be possible.

My only slight concern is that my Garmin, which is normally pretty accurate, recorded the distance at 4.98km, which leaves that nagging doubt that it isn't a real 5km time. It's still my fastest ever Parkrun though.

Great time

Blimey. That's a fast time for a FOC. :)......

Well done.

I managed a slow 5k plod in about 28 minutes this morning, which was only the second run in about 6 weeks. But I did 37 miles with 2700 feet of climbing on the bike yesterday. I'm still in cycling mode but will phase it out and take up the running more as the nights draw in.

I reckon I could beat him now

Picked up my Novablast 3's this morning and went for a 65min run around Heaton Park this afternoon, covered 12.27km, so 5.18km/h pace. Bit of rubbing on my achilles but I always get some rubbing with new trainers, overall they were bloody comfortable, it felt like I made lighter work of some of the hills as well.

Still got a lot of soreness in my calves from a 10 x 400m session (90secs recovery) on Thursday, that was my first speed session in a while. A combination of the speed and running on my toes more has probably tore a few muscle fibres, so that didn't help today but eased slightly as I got moving.

Great to be back running though.

5.5 miles before work this morning and that's start of the taper to HM in 9 days. Got my number last week and race pack yesterday. To be honest feel kind of like all the gear and no idea at moment.

Definitely not capable of that mate. Planning on parkrun and then couple runs possibly Mon/Weds with distance dependant on work
