Running thread

Well done, mate. It's amazing how everything clicks into place after all the walk / run sessions.
Alright Staffs. Nice seeing you on Saturday. I was going great and looking fwd to the final 2km slightly downhill to the finish then BANG! My right calf tightened up just as I was putting the hammer down. Gutted. Had to hobble the last two km. I’m going to have to come back to Stafford to do it again once I’m recovered! Quite enjoyed the simplicity of the course (Isabel Trail, Stafford) and the psychological aspect in that once you get to the turn the hard bit’s out of the way.

im selling a Chester marathon place for 5th October due to injury, paid £65 but im open to offers

Great to briefly meet you too.
I'll be up in Manchester for the match this week so squeezing in Peel Parkrun before a quick shower before heading to the ground.
I've done 3 volunteering stints during the recent warm weather, and I'd definitely recommend it. It gives you a different perspective into the events and an insight into how much work goes on behind the scenes.
I also enjoyed offering positive support towards participants and meeting fellow volunteers. I was even nice to a guy in a United top on Saturday (through gritted teeth)!
I’ll see you at Peel then. Going to give it a go despite my bad calf. Might have to walk it round though :-(
If it is no good I’ll volunteer the week after.

4 warm miles this morning. Couldn't get Garmin to start activity and couldn't be bothered faffing about with it so started strava on my phone. I'd to pick up some meds for cat so other half took me in car and I ran home while she went shopping. So I'd rough idea of distance, only thing didn't like was not knowing my pace

I finally managed to complete the last of the 27 runs of the Couch to 5k last night. This was my third attempt, the previous two I had to give up due to injury. I’m absolutely over the moon that I can now run 3 miles, it’s not easy but I can do it. I’m going to have a go at Marple Park run in a couple of weeks.
Fantastic mate, well done

Well, that’s me screwed. Snapped my Achilles tendon playing Padel (should have known better at my age). Probably going to be 6 months before I’m back to even limited running :(
Ah, bollocks, sorry to hear that mate. I play platform tennis and the prospect of doing that is always in the back of my mind. A few guys I play with (who are all younger!) have also got into padel. I’ve looked at it and almost gone a couple of times, but it looks just a bit too energetic for someone closer to 60 than 50.

Did a 5k this morning, 35’01”

10k tonight in just under 50 minutes with a couple of brutal hills in there, want to get under 45 if possible on 7th at Altrincham 10k race.

Done that pace before so know it’s possible.
How old are you? That's a decent time no matter what.
