Not only that, but it will take them decades to rebuild to be in that position again, they mostly walked into what they've currently got over 10 years, without much resistance, then tried to take the whole country and completely failed to take more than 5% more.

I fear for the rest of Europe.....
 
Extremely disappointing to see the stance of the US who are now effectively blackmailing Ukraine over their mineral resources, freely dealing with the odious dictator Putin behind the backs of Ukraine and appear to be willing to drop the sanctions against Russia and basically reward aggression.
Personally I'm happy with Starmers stance on all this, but he does need to start spending more on defence, never has there been a more obvious signal to do so in the last 40 years.

As for the US, if you choose the path of cosying up to odious dictators and trying to bully your allies, don't be surprised when things don't go your way in future.

It's just par for the course with this odious country, regardless of what happens with Ukraine, the EU and UK should never even consider restoring relations with Russia while Putin or his regime is in power.

As the Polish PM I’m entitled to say it loud and clear, since Poland already spends almost 5% of its GDP on defence. And we will continue to do so.

not wanting to derail the thread, but the brexiteers of my age (40-60) that I know of, are right behind Trump no matter what, and are against Ukraine having any support. Therefore they really arent for a european military collective...as it misses out Ukraine, a european country, and basically throws them away to Russia...which then leads inevitably with Putin's ways (take, take and take again), to Moldova, the Baltic's and then eyeing up Poland, to join the Kalingrad enclave directly to mother Russia. I find it bizarre, disingenuous and downright fictional that anyone could believe that Russia would stop with whatever part of Ukraine Trump unilaterally gives away, a la Sudetenland/Czech nation.

Good links, but your short statement was quite misleading.

Only far right and left players in Germany would bring back cheap ruzzian gas and oil. Not our democratic parties.
That will not happen.

ruzzian LNG still isn't sanctioned in EU, that shows how dependent we've been and states like Hungary want to be.
