Sense doesn't come into it.
The numbskulls who voted for Trump in America think very much along the same lines as the numbskulls who voted for Brexit over here.

The difference being that there were only numbskulls across one party in America, whereas here there were numbskulls across 3 political parties and their supporters.

And they aren't numbskuls - mostly they are folks who don't want to become part of a European super state - and let's be honest that was the direction on travel and still is for many, though the call is much more muted now as other countries of Europe clearly don't want it either judging by electoral set backs for "Union" parties. But that is for another thread.

Why does the British press give so much presidence to Putin.
The Russians never stopped shelling Ukrainian positions and never stopped attacking Ukrainian positions.

Putin lies for breakfast lunch/dinner, afternoon tea, tea/dinner and supper. Indeed, whenever he opens his mouth he lies.

So the question is why does the British Press give so much presidence to his lies?

I'd like to believe it's because journalists are lazy and except Russian propaganda because it's pre packaged and ready for publishing , but really, after 3 years and 2 months of constant lies, I'd like to think British joilurnalists were more circumspect in what is published.

I voted to leave, the original poster was trying to make the point that it was a tory demographic that had voted to leave and not a wide swathe of people from across all parties.
And I will own up and say, I wish I could vote again.

It's more because the Western narrative has collapsed.
The Russian narrative has more credence and traction internationally.

It is widely accepted everywhere that the Ukraine war was provoked by the West to break Russia economically and militarily. Boris Johnson has admitted this on record saying it is a proxy war.
Why people still can't see this is a mystery.
