Re: How would you feel if we didn't get Sanchez?

If what Slinkykinky said is true...that the second choice could be even better. No big loss.

Until we know who we will target instead...it doesn't matter.

I just got home and read The S*n's story, has this been posted?

However, City sources have indicated to SunSport that their bid is still on the table, although they fear they will miss out to Barca.

Don't know if I have missed this (not been around for a while) but if Barca are signing Sanchez, does this mean they have given up on Fabregas?

Re: How would you feel if we didn't get Sanchez?

no, they'll get both because money and debt doesn't matter to Barca, Real, or United and never will.

glad this one is over

Me too. Glad to see Mancini appears to have said 'right you know the score and can't make your mind up - I've had enough and I'm not wasting anymore time on you.'

Pleased to see that the 'City will simply buy players rather than attract them' theory can be blown out of the water.

Another message to potential targets - we will put forward our offer and terms if you think you can play us off against other teams you are wrong. We will withdraw our offer and move on - you may find that you then end up with a lot less than you could have got as there was only us and one other club that were prepared to pay you so much. We've gone so the other is going to drop thier terms as they have no-one in the same money league bidding against them now.

i for one dont think this is over.the bid is still on the table (i think) so there is still a chance that if no one bids anywhere near it then he could still be a mcfc player come the 1st of July ,so we will just have to wait and see.well done bobby and the mcfc transfer team for telling sanchez and co that we will not sit and wait around for you to make your minds up.

^ A well considered and accurate post. And I share the sentiments about being pleased it's over.

Re: How would you feel if we didn't get Sanchez?

I might probably feel,

small, after being laughed at for being a "small club",
depressed, for others start saying "money can't buy everything",
heartbroken, for another player "snubbed" City,
and angry, because we might have missed the timing for "Mata and Co.".

But mostly, I would
point one finger at Sanchez,
and scream at the top of my lungs,
"F*** OFF".

To sum it up,
I don't give a rat's ass about it & I'm glad I hadn't.

Said it last week, he was always going to Barca, just like Tevez; what a player wants he gets. Shame we wasted so much time on a target that was unattainable ultimately.

Fuck are we still going on about this. He wants to go to barca, hes not worth 45 million euros it was fucking obvious this wasnt going to happen.

Chippy Boy,

You will have to keep up at the back of the class. This daydreaming isn't good enough.

Perhaps it is too much for you to remember my post about 10 days ago. That's perfectly understandable in a thread of over 54,000,000 pages and 397,228,296 individual comments.

What I said was something along these lines.

Whilst it is generally acknowledged that the Catalans are deep in debt, their economic plans in bearing down on the matter factor in a net capital spend of around £40m on 2011 summer transfer fees. This has been clearly spelt out by the club.

You have to remember that they generate vast amounts from commercial sales activity, from filling the Nou Camp with 90,000 supporters for home matches, from the sales proceeds of players such as Bojan Krkic and a few others that will happen in coming weeks. There is also the likelihood that they will receive a hefty payment from AC Milan for Zlatan as per agreement. This is circa €20m.

If they spend somewhere in the region of €75m as is likely for both Fabregas and Sanchez (with, in all probability a player exchange + cash deal likely - perhaps Thiago Alcantara for the Fabregas deal) they will have kept within their target net spend.

What I think we will all have to accept when the deal with Barca is wrapped up and the specific details of the fee and terms are announced is that it may be a fee paid in instalments, that Sanchez will probably go for significantly less wages that we would have offered, that the total fee and bonuses paid tomthe Fruili club are less than has been talked about on here over the last two weeks.

It might even smack of the Kaka situation where the transfer fee will be much less than those previously publicized. ie Kaka moved to RM for a significantly smaller fee than we had been repotedly offer Milan.

Not that it will be anything for us to worry about now that we have formally pulled out of the deal. There is absolutely no point in crying about spilt milk. What I'm sure will happen next is that we will announce two, perhaps three signings to strength our already strong squad.

Wonder why there's nothing on the official site that we have pulled out of the race, yet when we decided that we weren't going to pursue Eto'o there was??? Maybe it isn't over just yet or just wishful thinking ;-)
