And so he should cost more...he's a current England international at the Premier League Champions...not some average championship striker who is hardly prolific. Silva words must tell you he holds Johnson in some sort of esteem ablilty-wise ?

Bit harsh on Fletcher, a strike rate of 1 in 3 playing for a Wolves team that were in a perpetual relegation battle is not too shabby.

Current England international? So is Downing, Henderson, walker, Livermore etc. obviously he has ability hence why Sunderland paid £10m + bonuses. But he was not getting enough game time as he wasn't good enough for us. We just got £10m for someone who wouldn't always make our 18 man match day squad. £90k Off the wage bill, unhappy player gone etc

Kyle Walker wouldn't be sold for £10m plus the much coveted "add ons" in any transfer window. You'd be talking at least double that. Let's hope Mr Sinclair (assuming Mr Marwood is capable of landing him) doesn't mind warming the bench either.

He is a first team player at his club though?? What about Henderson. Is he worth more than £10m? Downing? Livermore?

so he's a world beating engerland international ...... yawn

and a largely ineffective little used substitute for City

be still my beating heart

And still several light years ahead of Steven Fletcher ! Let's give praise and thanks to the god that is Brian 'Poker Face' Marwood. Asset stripping at its finest.

''asset stripping'' !!!!!

wow have the Champions sold the spine of the team or just some unwanted/ uninterested squad ''assets'' so far lol

.....and has the window shut already?!

A player is an asset whatever you think of that term. Selling a player for less than his market value (which we do continually) is asset stripping in my book.

Silva holds Johnson in some sort ot esteem!! I like that! Maybe he spent hours on the training ground wondering how he does it. . . bet he never stops asking Iniesta why Barca havent snapped him up! ;-)

So you're saying David Silva is either a liar or full of bullshit then ?

he's not the manager and his respect for a fellow professional is no more than that

Stan, what would you say AJ value should have been. Not more than Jarvis or Fletcher, a figure.

Henderson was £16m, Downing £20m not a year ago...is AJ worth less than those 2 ? No of course he isn't. He's better than both and therefore his transfer fee should reflect that.

-- Sat Aug 25, 2012 10:55 pm --

£15m at least (exclusive of add ons).

But would you give them those figures now.?

So a figure we could end up getting? Or £15m plus another possible £5m on top making him a £20m player. Come on you surely don't think he is a £20m player

But it's not that simple is it? Henderson and Downing were regular starters at Sunderland and Villa, meaning they were important players so that automatically bumps the price up. AJ has been more of an impact sub so is therefore not as important to City, which buying clubs would be well aware of and would tend to lower his price.
