I can't be arsed reading through every single page but in the midst of the pros & cons for leaving out Aguero, has it been mentioned that Pep said the plan actually was to bring him on later in the game, to try & take advantage of Barca's defenders ?

Is that really so idiotic at the Camp Nou ? Play with an extra mid to press Barca & try to compete with possession (which we did) then try to open them up later ?

If Bravo had stayed on the pitch, would it have worked, even from a goal down ?

Really crazy game, I really enjoyed the first half seeing us match Barca the half time whistle happened at the wrong time as we were knocking at the door. On another day those chances go in and we could have been talking about City wiping the floor with Barcelona.

Limited game time last Saturday and mid week should have Sergio chomping at the bit for today and FC Stretford, be licking his lips coming up against Blind and Bailly.

Its clear that Pep doesn't share the view that clearing it should be the first priority in that situation. In his press conference yesterday he even refused to say Bravo made the wrong choice - he said he miskicked it, but that he wouldn't say trying to pass in that situation was wrong.

It's not a premiership thing though - Barcelona aren't a premiership team, nor are Celtic who forced similar mistakes (although less costly). We're seeing a lot of, "it might work in Spain and Germany but not over here in Ingurland" stuff in the press recently and it's rubbish. In Germany and Spain there are a lot more teams who will hound a goalkeeper in the way Spurs did - it's nothing he's not dealt with before. In fact in time we'll be laughing when teams try to press us - it's what Pep wants.
Fair point and I hope you're correct. But I do think the Premiership is different.

That said and in addition to my original note, I also felt we were doing quite well up until the point we made the FIRST stupid mistakes in defence.

Make no mistake and dEspite my comments in this thread, I am 100% behind Pep.

Usually, we kill Aguero.

So far this season, we are looking after him.

We don't know if he's felt something on international duty. Why have him chasing shadows in the Nou Camp when I think we have a much better chance of turning them over at our place now. Extra kudos to Spanish Dave for kicking the crap out of Pique.

He went off injured for Argentina, then declared himself fit a few days later & played.

Rather than kill him, as past managers would have done, Pep has given him two half games since. Still, he might break down, nobody can be sure, but I recon it's a lot less likely than if he'd just done 180 mins charging about, straight after two international games.

The more i think about it, the more I think it was a good decision to leave him out.

Aguero has the same pass completion % as De Bruyne does despite being our lone striker and Kev in midfield so I don't see how De Bruyne is going to keep the ball better than Aguero does upfront. Also we've kept 65%+ possession in games with Aguero in the side so I don't get why he'd suddenly effect our ability to keep the ball?

someone had a go at me int he week for suggesting that the media were trying to engineer the idea (that is completely made up) that Pep and aguero were not getting on.....the headlines were being written the moment sergio turned out for argetntina and gave the interview he did while over there and we have now seen it over the last few days and we are still getting it even though Pep has explicitly said that he wants Kun (and Kompany) int eh squad/team.

I for one don't believe it for a second that Pep has an issue with Kun....yes he might want more form him but he could say that about every player (Im sure he does) but the media are stooping to a real low and part of it is desperation and an attempt to destabilise Pep and the club (its now even suggesting that Silva could be next in line in the MUEN - subtle one line embedded into another article about a major cull of players - most of whom we already know about). They want Pep to fail so they can still run the lines of the prem being the most intensive in the world (Crap in itself). A lot of the media are hugely xenophobic and anything that in particular challenges the English way of doing something is automatically public enemy number one.....

jose defence is a masterclass and his team are built on old brisk/english principles of defend first, kick and rush...and they swoon all over it....same with leicester last year.

The media are scumbags and are the epitome of everything that is wrong in our society and are the fuel for some of what is wrong as well. I havent bought a magazine or newspaper for 10 years and never will...I rarely click on links (but i unfortunately do on the MUEN website) for the newspapers that people put on here (so thanks to those who post the whole articles).

Their games are so transparent its pathetic. They are vile individuals.

I just wish there was a news paper/media outlet that would concentrate on tactics and what actually happens in the game instead of turning (over the last 30 years) everything to do with the game into a soap opera!

Edit...im pretty sure keys is a utd fan so that automatically makes him a c**t!
