Serious question about Mancini - serious answers only please

Despite the fact I (and a lot of other City fans) have no confidence in Mancini, I have said he needs two seasons before we can really be sure he's not the right manager.

We hear the refrain "The team is gelling" from people defending him (and I accept there may be something in that) but if we carry on playing games like todays, when are people going to accept his time is up?

1) Xmas?
2) End of the season?
3) Next Xmas?
4) End of next season?

I want a serious discussion please.

So you admit he needs two seasons yet you start a so called discussion 11 months into his tenure.. tbh i think you are just touting to see how many you have in the Bobby out camp..

-- Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:44 am --

You want a serious discussion, but don't really offer a serious starting point. I suspect most serious fans will judge him on results rather than your own specific timescales.

It's a shame, you're one of the better, more articulate posters on here but you're in danger of losing your credibility with your overtly anti-Mancini rants.

I wouldn't mind, but when we win it's despite Mancini, and when we lose it's purely his fault.

Personally I'm undecided on the manager, but I'd prefer to see a balanced argument rather than ridiculous hyperbole.

That cuts both ways. I'm yet to see a balanced argument on this board not get flamed by a bunch of fuckwits who can't see beyond "get behind the manager FFS"...

And what excactly is beyond get behind the manager then Billy ??

When we lose to a team in the bottom three having been a goal up people can say what they like.

if we lose to teams with only one win to there name how long will we stay 4th., and shirley it was also about the manor of the defeat that is of most worrying

correct, the way we threw away the points hurt the most, we do though have 28 games to go, we have plenty of time to put this behind us, bob now has to whip the lads up for thursday and then next sunday.
in all honesty i dont think he'll have to do much as these lads know what happend yesterday is not acceptable and they wont let it happen again, they are a tough old bunch.
i'll take a defeat yesterday for 3 wins in a row starting on thursday:)

Like discussing when the manager will go? It's pathetic. So every time we have a bad result we need to change the manager???

Yes yesterday was not acceptable, but until we start putting in those kind of performances week in week out let's lay of the Mancini out bollocks

Even if we somehow finish 5th, which would be disasterous, give him more time. There simply aren't any alternatives available who could decisively make a huge difference. Mourinho is probably the only one who we could safely say, "He would turn this squad into title contenders" and he will not be available for a long time and when he is, may fancy the rag job. Mancini's problem to me isn't tactical, it is trying to motivate his players. The solution for that may be to weed out those who don't work hard enough, because we have plenty who will work hard like Tevez, Silva, De Jong, Kompany, and Milner. Players like Barry, Bridge, Lescott, and the Toure Brothers (moreso Yaya if he doesn't start putting in a shift) need to be assessed. There are players out there who would die for the shirt with lots of quality.

I've always said wait and see where we are at Xmas. That includes the League the Europa League and the FA Cup. Ferguson has always said that it all gets going after Christmas, and although he is a twat, I believe he's right with that one. I see you had a bit of a dig about people saying the team needs time to gel, however that's a fact. It is also something that some of the more respectable pundits have said. I still don't believe Mancini has ever started with his 1st eleven. Mancini still needs time, and unfortunately for him, patience from the fans.

you are so right

I'm a Mancini supporter but one thing I can't understand from yesterday was his reluctance to use other players in favour of his personal favourites. It seemed to me that he took off Ade instead of Ballo because he doesn't rate Ade, yet Ballo was completely non-existent yesterday and absolutely knackered in the last 20 mins whilst Ade looked our best option to get an equaliser. SWP should have been on in the second half but he refused to use him because he doesn't rate him. Yaya is still struggling to impress me as he seems unable to get about the pitch without looking like hes stuck in quicksand, it seems hes had it easy in Barca's midfield alongside the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and co and is struggling to adapt to the pace of the game over here. I know RM is trying to make a point with AJ but its certainly to the detriment of the team. It worries me slightly that he may try to prove a point with a few players at the expense of the good of the team.
