Its a uniformed, disciplined service so absolutely yes there should be a minimum fitness requirement tested regularly.

Judging by their response level and speed to various situations I have seen - theft, bag-snatching, even a drugged potential rapist roaming the corridors - doesn't really matter.Yes of course they should do. As should firefighters. Stupid thing is that with pension changes in jobs like these the people doing them will also be working to an older age. Do you want a 62 year old firefighter and a 19 stone policeman attending your emergency situation?

The calibre of officer has fallen dramatically in recent years.No one with much about them wants to do the job,and those that are already in are trying to get out.Its a fucking shambles and its little surprise the recruits are not of a quality required.
Would you do the job for less than 2k a month?
