There was only ever going to be one winner of that vote.
I've voted but it's a meaningless poll. Ozil is flavour of the month and will win comfortably but I'm more than happy with Silva, not just his outstanding ability but his quiet professionalism and work ethic. I don't know Ozil well enough to comment om those aspects of his game.
Not just flavour of the month every Arsenal fan on earth listens to talksport
When they're not busy tweeting Adrian Durham death threats..
They get a bit grumpy those gooners don't they?

Still the greatest pass I ever seen in my life..it's pure beauty
the pass of a lifetime ..IT SHUD'VE BEEN 10

Shouldn't underestimate two things-

1.Dave's stamina and contribution to pressing and defensive side of it, he is tasked with and carries out a lot moreof this than Ozil. Ozil has low lung power and is knackered towards the end of most games, got subbed off often in the second half in Madrid games IIRC

2.Ozil supplied the goal machine that is Tranny as well as Benzema and Higuain who could be extremely clinical on form, he wouldnt have got near as many assist playing for City and in the PL. Considering Dave produced the most chances since his debut of anyone in the PL in that period (a staggering 301 chances IIRC) he has a low number of assists because tbh our strikers have been incredibly and sometimes criminally wasteful.

I would love Ozil in our team but no I wouldn't swap for Silva, few actually realise just how great a footballer he is.

Ozil is clearly better. Superior passer, faster, stronger, better dribbler and a more dynamic runner.

-- Wed Oct 23, 2013 2:15 am --

I'd take Oscar over any attacking midfielder though. That kid is destined for greatness.

Merlin. An absolutely brilliant player who had done so much to make us such a great team.

-- Tue Oct 22, 2013 8:59 pm --

No way. It should have been 13 the lucky rag scumbags.

You need glasses, both of you. It should have been at least 20-0.

Your notion that Ozil is clearly better is fallacious.

There is not much at all in between them, and also some categories you've awarded to Ozil are pretty wrong IMO.

It is impossible to say conclusively who is a better passer. There are too many variables, and most will concede this category about even.

I've seen much of the two and my personal feeling is that I've seen Silva execute magical passes with more frequency, mind you Ozil produces his share. I also think that Silva orchestrates the game better, his actions imposing the game more than Ozil. I've always examined Ozil's play very closely in the past because he and Silva were (are) often compared.

Silva is a better dribbler in my opinion. One of the finest in the world when the situation calls for it. When I watch Ozil dribble it looks less natural than Silva. Granted, neither are considered dribblers but have it in their arsenal.

Ozil has a good first touch, but Silva's is just that much stickier.

Stronger, maybe so but Silva has a low centre of gravity with good strength so it hardly ever shows anyway. With all of Ozil's 'strength,' it's funny that off the ball, an opposing player is more likely to be physically hassled by Silva than Ozil.

Faster? Ozil has been said to be many things but fast wasn't one of them!

More dynamic runner? I don't know what that means so I'll skip.

Finishing, even though you didn't mention, leaves much to be desired for both players.

Ozil shades it.

Difference is we have many players of comparable quality to Silva, and some would argue better.

Bit of a shit thread really, anyone who has seen david silva play knows how amazing he is....

Why did i come out of off topic.....

We can decide after tonight. Özil was anonymous last night. Didn't realise he was on the pitch for the first quarter and then he was clearly a Dortmund spy.

Not looking to get the excuses in early, but if this pitch is as bad as Pellegrini suggests, it may not be the finest stage to show Daves talents. Then again Moscow aren't as good as Dortmund, so really after tonight, we'll be in the same position we are now.
