There's a couple of tournaments where the dress code is relaxed a bit but otherwise de rigueur for what you usually see. Medical exceptions are allowed.

I have only ever watched snooker on TV as a teenager watching Pot Black.
Ray Reardon, Terry Griffiths, Eddie Charlton, Doug Mountjoy, John Spencer, Fred Davies - household names that stuck with me despite not watching a game on TV since.
Griffiths always stood out for his hairstyle!
The one thing that stood out about most of the players is they all looked very old back then. Most looked in their 60's (Rearden specifically) yet were in their 40's.
