The BT sports advert for the coming season All fukin scouse shit I thought we won the prem but obviously not , I don't think there is one mention or clip of City.( no agenda ) fuckoff :-)

That was a Liverpool specific advert, they will be showing ones for each side from games that were on BT Sport last season. The real agenda is against Arsenal in that advert and not City, so behave.

Being CAMPIONS should we not be the first ?

Did we get any mentions during the final? I didn't watch it in English, so I wouldn't know. But you'd have thought with 3 players on the pitch, we'd have had a mention, given the amount we heard about the rags having one person on the touchline.

One thing I did notice towards the end of last season was that the UK press did seem to be coming round to the arguments we've been making about FFP for years, and I saw a lot of references about how it's intended to maintain the status quo. If there's one thing you can rely on the British press to do is forget about their petty agendas when there's an opportunity to stick the boot into Johnny foreigner. Especially if he's French. Only Martin Samuel has been against FFP from the start (and unsurprisingly, he's the only journalist who actually knew anything about the topic).

Exactly! Had the Swamp Donkeys won the title last year I wonder what the trailers for the new season would have been? They certainly wouldn't have involved Sturridge in any way. I imagine they would have been wall to wall clips of Dick van Miffy and FatScouseGit endlessly looped in self-crowned goals of the season!

There is a disparate collection of individuals across the written and broadcast media whose main theme it seems to me is to denigrate the efforts that our club makes on and off the pitch. Occasionally we come across an enlightened individual who sees what is in front of his eyes and ears and writes a balanced account or a fair commentary, but for the last three seasons MCFC have not had anything like the accolades that would have been forthcoming from those individuals had the Dippers or MANUre achieved the same level of success. Indeed, had they won the same number of trophies we would have had special inserts and vomit-inducing programmes for our delectation. That is the agenda!!

The reality is that most people in the country support the team that was most successful when they were growing up (even if they claim to actually support a local lower-league team or come up with some other bullshit reason as to why their started supporting them). There might be a bit of regional variation, but that's generally the rule. The vast majority of people working in newspapers now either grew up during the 80s or 90s, so let's face it, there's a concentration of Liverpool and rag fans in the media. Add to that the fact that the media tends to mainly hire successful former players as pundits, and the result is that those two teams are massively overrepresented in the media. And pundits in particular get away with being transparently biased, especially at Sky. And then there's the tendency nowadays in the media generally to get hits by saying something outrageous and provocative and creating a story that gets people emotional and angry (and there's nothing like "undeserved" success to get people going).

But yeah, I don't think there's a specific anti-City agenda, just that those in the media can't help but reveal their bias in favour of their own clubs. I don't think it would be any different if it was Aston Villa or West Ham in our position. I also don't think that media companies have a particular worry about upsetting rags and scousers with their stories either. After all, one of the best ways to get clicks is to write something that gets RAWK or Rag Cafe hot under the collar. But so many of them are actually working at the newspapers that they're always writing sympathetically about them.

Just had a glance at today's sports section in the DT. They've got a great fuck-off piccy of some Super Mario geezer and his mates with a solid gold pot grinning like Oberleutnantfuhrers, whilst shoved down at the bottom of the page is a piccy of Negredo trying to catch Vinny with some Dipper looking on and squashed almost out of sight down the bottom left hand corner MNC 2 LIV 1. Fuckin' agenda alive and well at BT!!

Any blue that doesn't think there is an agenda against City is a fool. There has been anti City shit going on in the press before I was born in 1964. I remember being at Maine Road when I was a kid and the first team was traing there, my dad knew a bloke named George Turner who used to tidy the changing rooms at the ground and he used to get us in to watch. Anyway that day we met an old jorno named Derek Wallis, my Dad made a beeline for him to confront him over something he had wrote about Ushited. My dad asked why he never wrote the truth, a pretty strong accusation, to which Wallis replied, You write what the fans want to hear. Now if that isn't an agenda I don't know what is. That has gone on for years.

I do think City generally get a rough ride with the media, I just don't think it's part of a concerted effort to keep the club down. There's too much of a victim mentality amongst some of our fans occasionally. Every negative report, or perceived negative report, is seized upon.

The majority of pundits and journalists favour the so-called "big" clubs and we suffer as a result. We're seen as nouveau rich who are undeserving of our success, but it's just the shite spouted by the old boys club. Chelsea suffered the same initially, but are now accepted as part of the elite. The same will happen with us.

FFP is different. That is a concerted effort by rival clubs to hinder us.

I love you like a son but only the last line is spot on.

the press hate us.

There are 2 trains of thought at play here. Those who think there is a concerted effort to keep city at arms length, or that we are just being ignored because they want to pander to the masses.

Even though we have just won the league, the lack of mentions is staggering, but the truth is that many people out there in the media do not think we are relevant. And that people only respond to comments about the big 4.

On SSN yesterday, they were talking about the Mangala deal, think it was Natalie Sawyer that said something along the lines of

'The Frenchman was in the France squad but failed to get a game'

This whilst showing a clip of him missing an easy header at the back post playing for Porto

If we're on the one in the week running up to the new season starting that would make more sense.
