So why suddenly do they talk about Aguero leaving?

I think there's been a problem with Sergio for a while, and his comments at weekend clearly indicate this.

What's a positive is however this plays out we're winners. We could easily sell Aguero for £80m this summer, giving us huge funds to sign Dybala/Aubameyang (Griezmann is United bound IMO).

Griezmann has a release clause that will have to be met so anyone who meets it is at the table. At that point, why would he want to play in the Europa League under Jose when he could play in the CL with Pep. If you are an attacking player, the choice is obvious. Considering that everything else (money and location) is the same...it really isn't a choice at all is it?

Pep has not fully backed him from start and that I find concerning. Even when he praised him beginning of the season he added but he wants to improve him - did not hear him say same about Silva or Fern or even Yaya once agent issue was solved. Also not picking him against Barc still does not make sense other than there is something going on between two.

Might be that he had heard and since seen Aguero is a poor trainer and he feels he is not fulfilling his potential

Media sensationalist nonsense and perhaps it is everyone relenting or just bored enough to dignify and validate this issue by actually discussion it. The bottom line is that he is going nowhere and Guardiola has made that absolutely clear. He is one of the best players in the world and it is preposterous that this is even a topic of conversion. He is not happy and a bit unsettled at the moment and he has difficulties in playing the Guardiola way as a striker, which is:

- playing with your head up in the final third and linking with your team mates
- Being tactical diligent and working with the team

The first point being the more important and is something he will have to and will improve on. But he is obviously going to stay as there are very few strikers in the world that are in Aguero's level. Suarez and maybe Lewanovski (a big maybe) and that is about it.

He should however be treated like any other player not doing their jobs properly (according to the manager) and this uncomfortable experience will only make him better as a footballer.

He only has to look at the transformation in Yaya to see what can happen if you look, listen and learn to adapt. Wh would have thought Yaya would pick up a Player of the Month Award given the way he played last season?

Look at it another way. Say you're Kun, and PSG and Madrid ring up and say "you'll be our undisputed number 1." You then talk to Pep and Txiki who tell you "you're one of five strikers that we're counting on. we want you to stay here but we aren't going to guarantee you anything other than you'll play some games and not play others".

What would you do?

As much as we want Kun to stay and be part of the squad, the truth is that he walks into the best XI at PSG or at Madrid. If either of those clubs come calling, my best guess is he'll want to go. If he does then City will let him for the right price.

Equally if Kun says he wants to stay then he be sold no matter what the offer. The ball's in his court, but the fact he sought out a journalist to deliver his "i've got three months to help the team then we'll see what the club wants to do with me" suggests to me that there's much more to the story than just the usual paper talk. After all, his answer Sunday was a BIG change in tone and attitude from when he was last asked about his future and he said words to the effect of "i'm not going anywhere i'm really happy here and after I finish my contract here I'm going back to Argentina".
I believe the wheels are already in motion. I sensed this coming as soon as Pep was officially announced. Kun is the best striker we have ever had, but in this team with this manager he is our Rodney Marsh. If you get my drift. Factor in his boy lives in Madrid. Watch this space.....

All he said was he is happy and wants to stay, nothing wrong with that,he has put the ball in the clubs court

Nah, I don't think that's fair, you could just as easily say he walked down there and told them he's got 3 years on his contract and he wanted to stay (which he did). Could have been trying to Dispel the rumours.

The furore is about "The club will decide" which is just the stuff our players seemingly get coached to say.

"The club will always decide, unless the manager is talking in which case the player will always decide" could be the motto for our team under Pep. Pep are you getting rid of Yaya? Yaya will decide. Yaya will you leave? The club will decide!

Of course it's fair. Kun made the story by saying he will "work hard for three months and then see what happens".

I don't know why people are getting over excited by the story either. I'd have probably done the same thing in Kun's shoes if I was feeling a little unloved.

The one annoying thing is that this is now the story and not City continuing their good form.

Swap for Varane, Carvajal & Isco ?

I dont really think that the reports are out of line when you take into account the comments made by Sergio. I wouldnt say it was worse than, say, the speculation about Rooney leaving united.

Sergio is basically updating his LinkedIn profile just in case but it doesn't mean he's definitely off.

lets just see what the next 3 months Sergio gives the team, personally i think he has got a bit comfortable and needs to get back to his dynamic self, if and when he leaves it will be a very very sad day for all City fans, he has given us the best of times and will allways be one of the best loved players to play for our club, a legend.
i think you called it just right.. " he has got a bit comfortable ".. some games hes hardly noticed . but maybe some of it is down to the way city have played, but now he has to fight for his place and fight for the team . lets see what the future brings

We have to talk about it now because press brought it up...

City rely to heavily on aguero they said, if he gets injured they are fkd for CL... So we get a new striker to rotate and its "aguero left out" !

A couple of days ago I thought that it was just press mischief making but now I can see why him leaving is a very real possibility.

Primarily because Pep wants players who will run and work in every match.
This has never really been Sergio's strength and, given his accumulation of niggles over the years, would any attempt by the player to change his game bring on a fresh spate of injuries?
As Tolm and others have indicated we really can't lose with the situation being as it is. We either get a superb striker who also has added something to his game or we get to replace him with someone of similar calibre who has what Sergio lacks.
Sergio gets a fresh challenge in a location where he can play his chosen game and maybe a place which eases his domestic worries.
We certainly would not sell him to a direct rival so all the media buffoons who suggest him going to Liverpool or Arsenal are delusional.
I think the rest of the season and this summer's transfer window will resemble a game of high stakes poker.

If Sergio should go this summer if any team from the premier league come calling we should ask for nothing less than £125m cash, if a club should come up with a player + cash deal, then city should decide which players should come here. let's say it is Spurs we want Deli Alli +Harry Kane + £30m cash or no deal, if one player says no then there is no deal. For a club in Europe we want nothing less than £90m.

He had a knock for Palace in the cup, he recovered and made he bench for Wet Spam. Against Swansea Pep decided to stick with a front three that had caused so many problems in the last two matches and so again Sergio was benched. How that relates of a media frenzy is beyond me, desperation for a story now the window has slammed shut most likely.

Against Swansea that front three wasn't as ruthless, so every possibility Sergio will be back in the starting eleven for Monday night.Sure, he'll have to adapt or he'll struggle, but you tend to find the best players can do that, and he's undoubtedly in that category despite how hard he may or may not train.

Whilst it won't do him any harm at all to be rested more, or indeed to see that we have option options up front and he has to be on top of his game, the decision on whether he stays is kind of redundant right now. He isn't going anywhere and even if it looked like a reality rather than speculation, it woudl require one of the club or Sergio to want it to happen for a start - so either he doesn't get more game time and is on the bench for the majority of our games between now and May, which won't happen (we've said as much, and benching him just risk reducing his value anyway), or we find a better solution for Pep's plans, which ultimately we have to just back and go with.

Even then, someone has to come up with a huge offer - if Pogba is worth a conservative £78-90m then what price for a proven goalscorer who is regularly touted as not far off the likes of Messi and the poser in terms of world's best player? OK, every deal is different and not everyone is as stupid as Woodward, but I'd imagine we'd be taking about £70m just to sit around a table, knowing a potential replacement is lined up at half the price.

Then there is the desire to go back to Argentina - whoever wants him surely has to understand that is his goal in a few years, City understand that and we will accommodate that if we feel he is that important to us over the next few years.

All taht said, I love Sergio. He is a part of the folklore here now, a true legend. I would be gutted if he left and I feel the commitment the likes of him, Silva and Kompany have shown to City over the years, can not be respected enough. They joined a 'project' and became legends, and besides he has some records till to break at this club.

The first thing that struck me at the start of the season was how much thicker set Kun had become, maybe too much gym work? But whatever the reason, he has missed a lot of chances this season and should of scored a third for us on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how this develops and what is attitude is like. He will always be a legend here but football moves on, but I hope not just yet.

Not that many decent strikers around. I'd keep him for at least another season, he obviously wouldn't be starting every game though. If he wants to leave after this then i'd let him.

Spot on. Rather not sell him at all than sell him for less than Pogflop money, we have to stand firm on our valuation.
