Southampton Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Keep calm. Could prove to be an important point.

They will beat many others at home this season, and it is an improvement on last year.

sorry but its got to be said...pellegrini is shit...we didnt deserve anything from that game and juggling tactics like he has is suicide

Seriously?

It doesn't take much for comments like this to appear on this site.

We didn't even lose.

Beat Arse n' hole next week and we will be flavour of the month again... Many sides would of capitulated there today, we held out for a point, so it is nowhere near as bad a result as some are claiming on here!

There's hardly anyone on here saying that a point is that bad a result.

There's lots saying we were utter fucking dogshit though. And they're right about that.

I agree, I would say that a point here is good, but it was the manner in the way that we got that point because we were hanging on for that result. They ran us bloody ragged, we changed formation by taking off Negredo, to then revert back to it not too long after by then bringing Dzeko on !!!

Didn't understand that at all especially when it was midfield where we were over run

Being able to 'hang on' is essential for winning leagues. Especially away.

We didn't have that ability last season or earlier in this one.

I see that as progress in both mindset and application.

4 points from WBA and Soton away is a decent return. Chelsea lost at Stoke so puts our performance into context. We simply can't play at 70% way and expect to win. Must be more ruthless when we are on top (like we are at home).

Strange substitution from Pelligrini to bring Dzeko on. Toure not performing well but bringing on another striker ruined the formation again and left us vulnerable in midfield....AGAIN.

Aguero missing targets uncharacteristically and most of the final balls were woeful. Barely deserved a point.

C'mon Everton!

Weird substitution. Putting Garcia on was also strange. Anyone with a knowledge of the game could see he wouldn't cope against southamptons energy and quick passing. That's what really worries me about Pellers, very rarely does his subs make an impact in a positive way. We were outclassed and outfought and but for poor finishing we would have been swept aside.
Our managers interminable love affair with this guy is something I find utterly incomprehensible- really .. ..just fookin wow!

what an excellent fotballsmatch... alot of chance, 2 teams going for it... I thought it was a real test for us and that we really did well considering we lost there last year with 3-0... clearly a step in right direction... southampton is playing really well and their passing is awesome... so calm and knows what to do with the ball... not many teams will press us like that so im well impressed with 1 point and lets get ready for Arsenal... 3points there will get us really going for the title!!

more and more teams are learning

we are one sided and don't have plan B
I dont agree with that... southampton is playing one kind of football that we have very difficulty to deal with if you look by experience... not many team can handle that and im sure we would have tonked them at home but on their ground you have to expect that they give their all... it really was an excellent football match that I really did appriciate... its why premier league is about... tough away games! everyone can beat everyone!

Arsenal win tomorrow and I think the title is theirs. Played off the park today by an understrength southampton. We havent got the workrate or heart to win the title
Not sure if its just the work rate or heart, 2 upfront away from home has been a major problem

I think it's a huge part of it. We could get away with playing two upfront, if every player buys into it and works their bollocks off (exactly like Southampton did today). We don't, and so become worryingly easy to play against at times.

The fact we got a point will gloss over the fact he were fucking dreadful.

We didn't deserve any points but got one.

A draw may be a good result when we look back at it but the performance can''t be ignored. They had a host of injuries and we had the team that beat Spurs and Norwich 6-0 and 7-0 respectively, and more (Kompany)

You can't win every game but at least be fucking arsed.

Chelsea wasn't even able to hang on against Stoke. I bet no one's saying "Mourinho out" over there. (Or I might be wrong).
