Southampton Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Good result overall. Poor attacking performance in the second half, but defensively we limited a good team to few clear chances, and ultimately made one point up on Chelsea.

If someone had offered me 4 points last Tuesday with our form away, I would have snapped their hands off.

It's a good point there. It's the shit results at Cardiff, villa and Sunderland that are tainting peoples views.

We didn't play well and Southampton were good.

We need to buy in January because we don't have enough quality in midfield and Demichelis is not good enough.

Three of our next four games at home albeit it with two tough games but If we can take 10 points out of the next 4 games we will have a great chance.

Why do we never seem to get a lucky result we don't deserve? Every other team in the league seems to do it now and again. Anyway, a crap performance against a very good team. Can't expect a result doing that.

Three questions for you.
1. Are you one of the happy clappers?
2. Did you see the game?
3. Do you expect us to be doing cartwheels after a performance like that?
You could understand the criticism if we lost , southampton created fuck all either and only scored through a wonder goal

You didn't actually watch the game did you?

Soton had 15 shots, 4 of which were on target.

Face it, they should have son that game really.
He definitely didn't watch the game. Southampton gave us a bit of a chasing today. They had the lion' share of possession, controlled the midfield and had more efforts on goal than we did. We stole a point today, which isn't bad. But the performance was very insipid. Once we got the early goal, we should have been all over them, hassling and chasing them and forcing them into errors. Instead, it was actually the polar opposite; they were all over us.

Can someone explain Dzeko for Yaya sub? Was Yaya injured?
Even if Yaya was injured it should have been Rodwell on, as Pellegrini had just evened it up in midfield where we were being utterly outplayed and then he changed it right back.

People could have said where our problems would be today from the line-up being announced; yet he still doesn't learn.

Not a good performance at all but a positive to see us grinding out some kind of result away against a good team when we are having an off day. Also if we beat arsenal next week then I reckon this will look a decent point.

When we beat Arsenal it will have no bearing on todays performance.

That was a good point

Is it beyond some of you to realise that Southampton are very strong at home and played a good game?

Win at WBA, draw at Southampton. That will see us slowly catch Arsenal. One step backwards, two steps forward.

Excellent defensive performance today. Despite their possession, very few real chances for them. Took a wonder goal to get them into it. Demichelis excellent throughout. The real disappointments were Kun and the Beast, who gave us very little up front. We can't win 'em all, and that was a good point. League might be won by as low as 75/76 points this year, so every point vital. Long way to go, and the season goes through different phases. Only title contenders that can be happy are Arsenal, and they've a tough stretch coming up. We were resilient today, and got a deserved point.
