Spurs’ new stadium

Do you think we could play the match behind closed door in the new stadium? Or is it impossible to even that with safety concerns?

If they can't fulfil their contract with the league, half the grounds in the Prem will be unused that weekend & at least one will fancy earning a few extra quid.

They should just pick one which suits us & Spurs pay their fans & whoever, compensation.

If it wasn't for the fact it would give us an unfair advantage over other teams, it would be correct to play both games at our place.

Levy hasn’t been putting in the electrical systems. Nor have Spurs been overseeing the work. That has been Mace’s and the subcontractor’s responsibility.

Jim, surely even you're now thinking that there's a distinct possibility that this game doesn't get played at your new gaff. I appreciate that you get a fair bit of info yourself which you pass on in good faith, but the amount of rumours flying around about what's been going down on the stadium site - admittedly some are from fans of your rivals but even Spurs fans have been told there are serious issues - would suggest that this is a long way off being completed.

There’s an awful lot of rumour going around - much of it from dubious sources, as you say, and most of the remainder from those with an incomplete knowledge of the situation.

Yes, there is absolutely a possibility that the stadium will not be ready by 28th October. We simply don’t know yet how extensive this problem is and how long it will take to put it right. It could be a matter of months or it could be a matter of weeks. I simply wanted to remind those involved in the discussion that the one option that appears to have been ignored altogether is that the stadium will be ready in time after all.

So it goes on to penalise Southampton and distant City fans (like me!) who have already paid for travel on 3rd November and potentially means rearranging fixtures for whoever we and Spurs might be playing in the League Cup? Can't see that's an acceptable solution

It makes no difference who the contractor is. When there is a big cock up in a company no matter whose fault it is , often the CEO has to fall on their sword. Ultimately it is the responsibility of Spurs as they are responsible for employing the contractor and agreeing the timelines.

They must have known it was going to be a tight schedule to complete the works for September and any sensible organisation would have had contingency plans in place for delays, which appears not to be the case.

How is it that I keep getting adverts at the bottom of most pages for electricians wanted in the Tottenham area, paid at £25+ per hour, on a 3 month contract?

Yes, of course Spurs are ultimately responsible (although they will nevertheless be fully entitled to LAD’s). But we aren’t talking in terms of dry corporate responsibility. This isn’t a court of law. The person who posted the original accusations was talking from the perspective of a football fan. That is what I was responding to.
