Spurs, FOC season tickets & other ticket conditions

According to Levy, most pensioners are "rich".
It's more likely he means most matchgoing pensioners are rich, because those that aren't long since gave up going anyway. I'm sure it's much the same at City, as at spurs.

I think the 15 games (don't know if cup games are included like at arsenal) thing is more of a threat (to all) because it discriminates against the many people who work shifts and weekends these days, if "utilised" is key it's not so bad, as I can relatively easily pass on my ticket, but if it was strictly 15/18 league games by the user, then it's quite harsh given how many fixtures get moved at short(ish) notice.

I haven't got there yet, and I'm still a couple of years away (from the discount), but a lot will depend on the football if they take it away. I'd like to be going at least so I can go with my grandson, but he's still a few years away from going too.

Spurs have just published their 'Ticketing Charter' and there's a few things in there of interest.

  • They won't be issuing any new discounted over-65 tickets as from next season, and they're gradually whittling down the discount on existing tickets from 50% to 25% over the next five years. The rationale is that they have four times the number of over-65 season ticket holders than they used to have and it's costing them money.
  • Season tickets will have to be utilised a minimum of 15 times over a season or will be subject to non-renewal.
  • They will be actively auditing the issuing of away tickets. Allocations are based on points over a rolling 5 year period. They say that 80% of tickets go to general admission season ticket holders, which is the same as us if you add the 20% of OSC tickets into the supposed 60% we get.
Ferran Soriano will be all over the FOC one I bet, assuming they get away with it.
Nature will naturally whittle down those over 65 so the grabbing bastards won’t have to concern themselves with FOCs taking up valuable seats that could go to tourists for much longer.

As already stated if City do anything short of making it more affordable for kids and pensioners then I’m sacking it. The shit I had to put up with in SSL3 last night with tourists all over the place in wrong seats no comprehension of the English alphabet and the concept we use double letters for rows and seats go up in numeric sequence one way and funnily enough down if you go in the opposite direction then needing to bring drinks and a Fukin running buffet back to their seats upto 15 mins into the second half. Half and half scarves standing in the gangways taking selfies etc etc then absolutely no Fukin reaction when we score and no none of them were Danes.

I think United may have something similar. Think there might be more a certain number of OAP tickets and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

I guy I know was a season ticket holder there since the 60s and when he retired he took up a part time job as a steward. He enquired at the start what would happen if he packed the stewarding in? And they said, no problem, you’ll be able to have your season ticket back.

Well that happened at the end of last season and he was told he could have his season ticket back as promised. But all OAP tickets had gone, so it would have to be at full price.

So a bloke who has barely missed a game in nearly 60 years, now watches his local non league side on a Saturday instead.

Even though this season I've not managed every game I consider myself a match going pensioner.... no way am I rich Mr Levy. I just prioritised my season card with my beloved Manchester City (& not just to see JB!!)

I've already received the dreaded email warning me about how many matches I have attended. I tried to make sure that my seat was always occupied but unfortunately there were a few occasions when it wasn't.

So I am very seriously considering what to do next season, I'm not getting any younger and although my health has slightly improved it is not improving as fast as I would like. (Not looking for sympathy just stating facts) Therefore why would I want to pay however much it will cost next year. This year I resorted to paying DD for the first time because at renewal time I didn't have the full amount available.

I'm not poor, don't get me wrong, but I have to prioritise money these days and looking at this budget I'm not sure where I will end up.....:-) But I won't be homeless so I am ok. As my Dad used to say, a roof over your head and 3 meals a day and you're all right. He didn't mention heating as there wasn't central heating round our way at that time. *lol*

It'll be the norm at every premier league club soon.
Normal fans need not apply

Football is very near to the tipping point
