Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

Same, I didn’t think it would matter as we were playing them off the park. Ultimately we didn’t put more than two of the many many chances we created away and that’s why we didn’t win.

I celebrated both the late goals in the two games vs Spurs so I feel robbed even though they were correct.

I think VAR will favour us in the long run.

I think the foul in the first half doesn’t get a pen in the last few seasons 100% of the time even if the ref sees it in real time. I was expecting VAR to give them, but anyway, it’s not why we drew, shit finishing. :(
My only immediate reaction to that is.....will VAR help us in the end?
I thought it would, but after the first 2 games, something’s not quite right.
As I’ve said before, I agree with it, but at the moment I think it’s against us 100%.
Not seen what Pep has said after the game, as I had to get away from everyone, but we’ll see. Praying I’m wrong

As someone said, Pep will use this game to motivate the players. Suffering is necessary to go further. Suffering injustice will help Pep build a siege mentality.

How can you keep saying the ref was in the wrong but not the VAR team? It's pretty obvious Oliver got it wrong but if we give him the benefit of the doubt (which he doesn't deserve) h only saw it once in real time, the VAR team saw it from multiple angles and still decided it wasn't a penalty so they're even more wrong than Oliver! That was the perfect example of a 'clear and obvious' error so if VAR isn't being used to correct shit decisions like that then what is it for? It seems to me that at the moment it's being used to rule out goals for ridiculous technicalities and millimetres but not to stamp out actual cheating, holding in the box, diving, etc. The decision to rule the goal out was probably correct to the letter of the law but only because the law has been changed to suit VAR, all elements of common sense and the joy of goals being scored have been removed from the game but the cheating is still fine it seems. That's what the problem with VAR is at the moment, you can tie yourself in knots trying to justify it but it's a fundamentally flawed and broken system the way it's being used and it will kill games of football for the majority of the teams in the competition.

Spot on blue

If we play the next 36 league games like we did today we will piss the league with 100+ points and VAR won't stop us.

No matter how good you are, sometimes luck, bad officiating and once in a season errors combine to cost you 2 points every once in a while.

The important thing is we absolutely battered the 3rd best team in the league and made them look like a Championship side that got accidentally promoted at times. 99 times out of 100 the goals will go in, the 3 points will be in the bag. Today was the exception and we just have to suck it up and move on.
Once in a while? You mean 2 out of 3 of the last home games against these muppets.
