Spurs Want Barry

Don't worry lads and lasses.

Leslie will break the bank to get him despite only one year left on the contract.

Personally I would like him to complete his contract with us and if he is happy with a one year extension provided his form and fitness held up I would go with that.

With the new additions and Milner's advantage with age and flexibility of position I feel that Gareth will not get as many opportunities next season and if he is happy with that then fine.

If he a walk up start each week then Stoke is a good option for us and him.

The fact that we let his contract run through to this point is a good indication that we are goin to sell Barry. Tevez too for that same reason.

Difficult one - quality player, but with Fernandinho and Garcia in that position he isn't going to get many games.

Would much rather sell Garcia than Barry.

In any case, we shouldn't be selling a player like barry to Tottenham. Why give them an upgrade on what they already have for such a nominal fee?

Its not a nominal fee considering his age and contract status. And who cares about Spurs. They aren't our rivals.

-- Thu Jun 13, 2013 11:56 am --

For 4 million id rather keep Barry. Rather get rid of Garcia.
But guess it depends on how long left is on his contract + wages

Though its typical Spurs really.
Anyone wants a Spurs player= 30+ million + the crown jewels
Spurs want a player= 23pence and some jellied eels

Yes Spurs are a pain to deal with. But...you really can't compare Barry to Bale/Modric. The players and situations are completely different.

We should not sell to Spurs. Only sell to teams outside the top 6 or abroad.

A bit different between the two TBM.

Gareth wants to continue with us and Tevez isn't fussed either way.

Often players decide to and agents decide to run their contracts down for many good reasons and in times when the club still wants the player and the player wants to stay.

Its not always the club approaching the agent first or visa versa.

Clearly Tevez is likely to leave us over the summer provided we get a better replacement and his valuation can be met.

Gone are the days where we buy the Ade's and the RSC's of the world and let them go on free when their contract runs down and we have them on loan to other clubs for much of their contract.

Also gone are the days when we sell for well below our valuation of a player.

We valued Tevez at 25mill plus last season.

We wouldn't value him at a lot less now despite him having one season left on his contract as was proved with the likes of RVP and a number of others.

Ideally we can swap him with a Cavani and a bit of cash for example which would suit us best.
