Stadium Expansion

As several people have said....if you build it they will come.

Except for massively important games against clubs of the calibre of Borussia Dortmond and Ajax.

Also, as for the cheaper tickets in the event of expansion, a lot of the match day revenue is made on bar sales. Say on a carling cup game, each fan spends £10 on beer. 20k fans at £20 per ticket is £400,000 on tickets and £200,000 on bar sales, making a match day income of £600,000. However, 40k fans at £10 per ticket is £400,000 on tickets and £400,000 on bar sales, making a match day income of £800,000. Now I know not everyone will buy beer and all that stuff, but you get the idea. In my opinion, if the club does expand, it makes perfect sense to sell cheaper tickets to get the bums on the seats, and they can make the money on bar sales, food, and merchandise. If ADUG have a good business head on them, and considering how rich they are I imagine they do, then they will have figured this out.

Its not even worth thinking about in terms of revenue per pint.

The current deal in place at Anfield for example means that Carlsberg pay LFC £1.5m p.a. just to have their beer in the ground.
I'm struggling to believe that. I understand that Arsenal get a million quid a year and with the extra capacity and more corporate facilities (especially on non-match days) I would hazard a bet that their beer volumes will be at least double those at Anfield.

I understand that Carlsberg and LFC have some 'istree, but the figure you quote seems to be well in excess of the market price imo.

Dont struggle but believe me or not the figure came directly from John W Henry in conversation about introducing a new beer to the ground.

Yeah It's disappointing that these 2 games didn't get sold out but I have no problem with us extending the ground it will lift our average gate for league games to around 52k I reckon and that will give us extra income..

Rags average 20 years ago was around 40k look at em now?! They never sold out there cup games either!

Time to expand is now, more will come for the league games which will create an add on for cup games in time, if we dont have the space they cant come, no brainer for me

Utd's CL games weren't sold out either. And I have seen thousands of empty seats at the |Nou Camp etc

It's hard to get 30k for mid-week Cup games when the local match-going fan base is restricted.

unless they drop prices at the same time as they expand
there just not the demand for an extra 13.000 seats

Just to show the other side of the coin, United expanded their stadium only a couple of years ago yet they never sell out cup games either. I bet they still class it as a good decision to expand though

If not mistaken we sell out league games well in advance. Which means we can sell more tickets. No one is saying if we expand we will sell out but unless we expand we will never have more than 47,000. Family stand prices need lowering and if an adult is paying £10 less than i am so be it, kids are our future and that is what we need to address
