Stadium Expansion

There's a problem with the North Stand. Something City may or may not have factored in? Unless you have a Child you can't sit in the North Stand. So the basics of that stand relies on enough Children turning up for the match. It's obvious there still aren't enough Kids/Adults turning up to fill that stand week in week out.

Don't forget, City have often sold out the top tier of the away end when the away fans haven't taken their full allocation. That's an extra 1000-1500 City fans to cater for.[/quote]

The Academy also have an allocation of tickets in the North stand which they give away as freebies to kids that are training with the club and to landladies for academy lads etc ( i usually get a couple off me mam) I know for a fact these are often given away and not used by the academy lads themselves, or i've not had any takers for spares i've had.

Re the survey, i sit in family stand level 1 with my two young uns. We're about 20 rows back so is a great view and not what i would class as "cheap seats" ie back of the east stand level 3. For approx £5 a game for a junior this is excellent value. From what i could gather from the survey, competitively priced seats will still be made available in a new level 3. Suppose it's only fair that i'd be expected to pay a decent price for decent seats !
I can't see City pricing anyone out, but will be looking for top whack for the best seats in the house and offering cheaper seats in other parts of teh ground. Maybe they would look to increase the number of value cards available or allow a block booking so people could still sit with a group of mates/family in a less favoured part of the ground. ???

Couple of points.

Firstly, we do sell out every game, the fact that the 'tickets sold out' sign goes on the website is enough of a hint to me. Season ticket holders cannot make every game, hence the few empty seats.

Secondly, the expansion does look interesting price wise. From the way I read that, it will be the third tier of the north and south stand that are priced at £380-£570, and the rest of the stadium is priced as normal. In my opinion, even £570 seems cheap judging by the state of modern day english football, especially if you're watching one of the best teams in the world (hopefully).

Thirdly, towards people posting about becoming like the rags, I admit, I did agree with this at first. But now that I rethink, we aren't at all. With atmosphere dropping, tourists arriving, and actually winning, I got quite worried that we were losing the club that we love. But for me, it's not becoming a club like United that is worrying me, it's becoming a team like Arsenal (no disrespect to any gunners). Arsenal's pricing at the Emirates has no doubt caused most of the 'hardcore' to be priced out, could be wrong so don't jump down my throat, resulting in tourists, corporates etc. taking the places. As long as our 'hardcore' fans don't get priced out, even when we do expand, we won't ever have this problem. If this did happen to us, and we had a decade or so of success, then we might start developing a 'raggish' attitude, as the younger generation won't know any different. I really hope the club keeps close to it's roots and thinks about us as well as the newcomers.

Well said, and makes space for the ordinary newcomers - you and me when we first started going.

My Dad started taking me when I was a kid in the 70s. I'd have never been able to go if the ground had been virtually all season ticket with a few thousand Match Day prices at £40 plus. Hope City can increase the number of season tickets at or around the current price - if they do then it will always be Our City

We have been clearly told by people on here that it's not possible.
So now I think it is possible... ...been redoing my Google Sketchup Model based on the Survey Diagram that shows City are looking to use all the space on the ends at the third tier level without touching the roof.

Which does beg the question, what are they going to do with the scoreboards? Hang them from the roof like at Spurs or Ajax?

will it not look a bit odd with a 3rd tier in the south and north stand with just 4 rows of seats in it?

The North and South Stands 3rd tiers will have to be a lot bigger than that to accommodate 12,000 fans. The ones in those images would add maybe 6,000 between them

I would say that we should not assume too much right now.

The stadium is going to get bigger, many more expensive seats will become available but there might be a surprise on how they accomodate the more 'traditional' fan.
