£1500 per year on gas and electricity isn't being "extremely frugal"... thats about the national average for a single person household.Lets see shall we....
I live alone and am extremley, extremely frugal with my utilities and i currently pay over 1500/year on gas and electric.
I also live in the cheapest authority for council tax and pay just over 1000/year.
I pay 360/year for internet (so i can read shite like this)
I pay 300/year for water
I own a cheap car outright, drive very few miles, average 55 mpg amd pay approx 1000/year on diesel.
And just under 500 on insurance. This is still cheaper than than using public transport. Not to mention safer.
That would leave me just over 1300 a year and at this point i havent bought food, socialised in any way, purchased xmas or birthday gifts for my closest family, or purchased any clothes, cleaning items for my home, or even a newspaper.
I havent yet paid for an mot, emergency repairs, or tyres for my car. All of which are needed occasionally.
I pay around 300 a year to insure my home and contents so now im down to 1000/ year.

£360 is double what I'm paying for unlimited data/calls/texts, why are you choosing to pay so much?
Driving "very few miles" but spending £1000 per year on diesel doesn't really compute, although perhaps you only drive up very steep hills in first gear everywhere?
The last time I paid £500 insurance was on a 350bhp subaru impreza with an agreed value of £15k in a medium risk postcode, I'm guessing you're either very young, live in a high risk area or just generally don't understand risk profiles and your particular model of car isnt the most sensible choice?
If you're only idea of socialising is limited to going to pubs, bars or restaurants then I can well understand why you need to factor that in to living costs.

It's almost as though allowing corporations, banks and some individuals to make massive profits and hold obscene levels of corporate and personal wealth, whilst also allowing unprecedented numbers of unskilled uneducated immigrants into the country and also encouraging the most feckless and irresponsible members of society to breed by rewarding them with generous child related benefits... is altogether somehow proving to not be socio-economically beneficial.
I can't understand what we're doing wrong, it's a real head scratcher.

It’s nit inheritance tax it’s a DEATH TAX , and it’s a disgrace, that person has paid tax on everything all their life and now they tax it again when you die, it’s disgusting. Your dad is reaping his benefits because he’s earned it, otherwise you create a society were people just don’t bother to better themselves because they’ll just take it off you anyway, oh wait that’s what you are suggesting. If he sold his house and then went on a spending spree would that be better, he’d be reaping the benefits again. Maybe blow the fucking lot then get dementia and let the state take care of him. Do I think the state should take more of my inheritance from me to make this a better society for the young who can’t afford to buy a house? Yes, I absolutely do.
My dad should have sold that house years ago, and put the proceeds back into the economy, but he won’t. Because he wants to hold what he has acquired, even though the house is too big for them.
Is that selfish? It absolutely is.
They don’t need to live in that house, but they continue to, because my dad wants to ‘reap the benefits’ of his toil, while others don’t reap any discernible benefit of theirs. How is that fair?
Like I said, to make our society fairer overall, some people will have to be treated in a way that they see as unfair.
That’s just the way it is, but it’s the only answer.

Child Benefit is paid for all children under 18/in full time education; it's the Child Element of Universal Credit which is limited to just the first 2 children only.
