I posted what I had heard on Saturday...spoke to four people and haven't got much more <a class="postlink-local" href="http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=121708&p=1957344#p1957344" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=1&t=121708&p=1957344#p1957344</a>

There are a couple of people on the board who could confirm or deny this, but they seem tight lipped at the moment. If what you've heard is true then I really fucking despair at city, I really do.

I have tried to offer an insight into this situation and I shall try again for those hard of hearing (not aimed at you Stony).

First and foremost just to clear this up once and for all this has absolutely FUCK ALL to do with Willie Mckay.

Secondly the situation as it stands is that there is no confirmed offer of any agreement between club and player as yet. There have been talks held recently and as far back as the turn of the year and there has been lots of false promises of more meetings to take this forward. The situation only a couple of weeks ago after further talks was that a deal wasn't too far away in the making or so the player thought.

The situation changed.

The club went public when the manager said a deal was imminent.

The player has held his own court for long enough and has always publicly supported the club and the manager and that situation will remain so. I'll repeat what I've said elsewhere that he wants to hang his boots up here for the rest of his career, he wants to achieve so much that he is talked about in the same manner of Colin Bell. He will come back next season stronger and fitter than this one and feels his overall contribution to the season is well below what he expects of himself. He promised me that he does things in training that he is yet to bring to the game and that will change next season. He is as desperate for this club to be successful as I myself am and no doubt every other Blue reading this is.

He is and always will be prepared to give up his time for the fans, tomorrow it's his young son's first birthday, at the moment he is with family back in Ireland and Steve had originally planned to fly home and share the special day with them all, but due to his commitment to City and attending the player of the year awards he will miss this occasion with his son. I have been in his company socialising in his own private time when fans are hanging off his shoulders talking to him about City but never does he try to get away and ignore anyone, he gives everyone time to talk, have a photo or an autograph and he is only too pleased to do it.

Last night at the Sportsmens dinner there was memorablia auctioned off from the 69 cup final and it went for good money, the only present day item was a Stephen Ireland signed shirt that went for over double the amount of everything else at £775.00. I don't know if Steve gave the shirt himself or the club but one of the old boys speaking fondly of Steve did say that under Sven we had access to the current players unlike now where we're kept at a distance. Somehow I find that quite sad.

Do I think Steve will leave City...not for one minute because ultimately I think the club know the value of his worth and will hopefully see the disparity between some of the higher earners and also the fact that the player himself isn't actually asking for the world.

if anyone has kept hughes in a job this year it's stevie. his transformation is held up as an example of what is possible for young players who 'buy into' the MH way (even if those who've followed stevie know that he was well on his way before Sven left the club). his goals have been central to our league position and progress in the uefa cup. his performances are displays of total commitment. he has repeatedly, publicly, wholeheartedly supported MH's tenure, and i dont think i'm being too cynical to say that MH's comments on the contract negotiations gave him a very convinient story to put out in a week when our season fizzled out and he found himself under all sorts of pressure.

come on MH, time to pay your debts.

Thanks for taking the time to write that Blue!

Sounds like City just need to do what every fan wants them to do and get their finger out and give the guy what he DESERVES and sign him up for many years to come !

One thing is for certain if City somehow manage to piss off someone as dedicated as Stevie to the point where he did leave i would definately wash me hands with the club, but can never see that happening, he means to much to everyone !

IRELAND IS SUPERMAN!!!!!

To be fair to Mark Hughes I don't think it's his decision alone. I have no idea how these things are decided but I would suggest that between Hughes, Marwood (previously Aldridge) Cook and the Chairman then they assess the contracts before them, the progress made, the worth of the player to the club and so on and then make an informed decision. They would also I presume look at the figures involved in replacing any player and realise that to do so would cost a hell of a lot more than rewarding an homegrown talent.

Could it be that the club are so busy chasing the new signings that Ireland is being unfortunately neglected at the moment

2112 I think you know most Blues will take what has been reported with a pinch of salt. Stevie may have said these things but i'll put money on it, that it was quoted out of context. His heart and soul is with this club.

Clearly this is business first and foremost, but i do hope that personal loyalty counts for something. I'll limit myself to saying that I would sincerely hope that, as far as is possible, Stevie has Hughes' support.

What the fucks it got to do with Hughes ??????
All he's said is the deal is very close which it probaly was, but now things have changed for some reason what's the problem with that.
When he signs will it be because Mark Hughes has done a great job in getting him to stay?thought not.
Hughes like every other manager in the Prem has fuck all to do with the negotiations he just says if he wants the player to stay & he has,try another tune this ones run its course.

Your post is unadulterated tosh. I presume from it's nonsensical content and general illegibility that you are recently returned from a public house. May i suggest your rancourous tone would have been better left there?
