Certainly good option if Cavani or Falcao cannot be bought. Not nearly as expensive.

£25m-£30m is still very expensive.

We just need to be very careful who we acquire in the Summer, I really don't want us paying over the odds.

true, but certainly much more affordable than something like 45 million that would have to be paid for someone like Falcao.

Yeah but while I really rate Jovetic you aren't buying the goals you are with Falcao and Cavani. Actually earlier this season his goal ratio was tremendous but they have dried up a bit. Now he has a respectable 9 goals in 19 Serie A games compared to Cavani's 18 goals in 21 Serie A games and Falcao's 19 goals in 20 La Liga games. Jovetic will probably become more clinical because the signs are there that he can transform into a Van Persie but in the here-and-now he isn't clinical like those two are.

So it depends what sort of player we are looking for because Jovetic is extremely talented, I would say (from what I have seen) a more talented technical player than either Cavani or Falcao. But do we want that or do we want the goals? Are we looking for the all-round ability or the equaliser to Van Persie? Do we trust Aguero to bag 30-a-season in a hopefully improved attacking setup next season or do we need a real hitman to partner him up front?

One must also consider, he plays for Fiorentina. A good team, but even with our midfield issues, he'd get better service here.

For me it's all about the money.
If we can get him for less than 20m and on a wage around 100k or less than it's a definite yes, but he's not worth any more than that.
I don't want another Mario, a young player on massive wages, because it only cause trouble for Mario. I think that if Balotelli was on 20k then he would have ended up a much better player.

He can do it if you have ( Silva, Mata & Hazard) playing behind him.

Exactly.
We need better players supplying him, and different styles of players. I think that a big problem with our style of play this season is that Nasri is being played as if he's David Silva, but really they're completely different player.
This leads to making Nasri looking incompitent and a struggle to score goals.
If we had Silva, Tevez and a winger (like Bale) supplying Aguero, we'd be top of the table and we wouldn't have drawn 0-0 against QPR, West Ham and almost Reading.

Jovetic is a very good player, but he's not a ruthless finisher.

We already have a very good forward in Aguero who, as good as he is, isn't really clinical. Jovetic is a bit too similar.

We need to sign a clinical striker - Cavani.

If Mancini is still the manager then I can see Jovetic coming to us. I can't see us getting Cavani or Falcao. They will have their pick of all the top clubs in Europe and unfortunately that means we'll miss out.

I agree but think Cavani will have one more year in Naples.

City also needs creative fullbacks

United Fullbacks had more assists and goals than some of City's attacking midfielders.

In fairness though TC, those assists and goals have gone some way to masking Evra's defensive sins.

All United full backs do is what our full backs did last season. Punt in a straight ball from the sides of the box. Richards and Kolarov do that all the time. Zaba's scoring more because he's modelling is play to be more like Maicon's, drive inside the box.

The only way we could realistically improve on our fullbacks is by signing Leighton Baines, which I would love, but I can't see it happening.
Zaba is the best right back in the league, and one of the best in the world.
Richards is not far behind Zaba. He's strong, a very good defender, good at heading from corners and his bombing runs are incredible. I love watching him.

Clichy is a very good left back. He doesn't get a lot of assists, and he's never scored for us (except that own goal type thing at ?Bolton? last season). He's a good defender and quick and agile. Overall he's consitant.
Kolarov is fantastic. His freekicks are brilliant, his crossing is brilliant, his runs are brilliant. His defending is sub-par, but he's good for wing back position in 3-5-2 or against teams with shit Right Wingers.

I don't see any need for us to improve our fullbacks.

Aleks, is that you?

haha no seriously. his only downfalls are that he is slow and he's a bad defender.

Which should prevent him from being labelled fantastic in my humble opinion.

He is slow as fuck.
Average defender.
Poor engine.
And his set-pieces aren't exactly impressing us are they?

On the upside the seems like a really great guy. :)
I think he will be gone this summer, likely something already arranged.

As for our other full backs, I wouldn't be overly surprised if the decision was made, to let go of... Micah.
Out new exec's won't keep someone for emotional nor social/regional reasons. If a player, no matter how good he is when fit, constantly gets injured, they will move him out. Not a very likeable decision if it was to happen, but this is a business we're talking about.
Btw, Micah's PL appearances over the last four years is 18 per season (on average).
