My Dad’s saying was “look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves”. Yes we had a chippy tea, every now and then but they were a lot cheaper in comparison in those days.
In 1970 a quid was worth £19.77.
Fish and chips were 25p
So about a fiver in todays money.
People opt for the chicken and chips now.
