Stupid little things that bug you

Why British News channels think we need to know the goings on in America on a daily basis.

Today’s useless US information is who new mayor of New York is. Who gives a shit? This ‘news’ means absolutely nothing to us and he’s a complete nobody to us in Britain, stop telling us about inane shit like this.

Similarly, on British quiz shows, there seems to be a weekly question about US states, US state capitals, US presidents or Vice Presidents, or some other shite about the USA.

Sling it!

Over the years via such platitudes as "when America sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold" and it being the "worlds' policeman" , its' sphere of influence has all but made us another U.S. state.
Just take a look at how they have been tinkering with our 'soccerball', and are continuing to do so to its' detriment.
So whether we like it or not, we are lumbered with a situation where U.S. politics has taken centre stage, (including their disastrous foreign policy of recent times).
America is not now the land of opportunity it once was and the penny has slowly been dropping with leaders of other countries.
China being at the forefront of a new world order.
The BRICS economy is a force to be reckoned with and perhaps the letters should be re arranged to form CRIBS......

You can understand their foreign policy being on our News. As you say, it affects everyone.

But things like Trump building an events space at the White House and the Mayor of NY winner… who cares?!

On a personal level, I too have very little interest, but it's useful to know I think.
My interest in the machinations of U.S. internal politics ranks somewhere between womens football and watering pot plants - no offence intended.

Electric cars.
Weigh about twice the weight of a proper car.
Don't pay road tax
Don't pay fuel tax.

In fact they pay nothing to use the roads, ridiculous.
It changed this year to £10 for year 1 and £195 for subsequent years.

That’s quite an increase in reality considering I used to have a petrol Fiesta on £0 road tax. But it’s the right thing to do.

And also this is a possibility …

We're in the era of 24hr news channels and website/social media accounts to fill. So any content is good content, as far as the outlets are concerned.

But you're right, we're fed all sorts of shite now in the name of "news". Reach PLC and the MUEN are terrible for it.

You, Sir, are speaking my language.

Does anyone think there's some bloke in dungarees, sitting on his front porch in Arkansas saying "Hey, that Andy Bernham is a great kinda guy"

No. I dont either.

We are the 51st state

Likewise, your last paragraph.
Why do we get endless questions on OUR quiz shows about the London Underground. We seem to be London obsessed in our own country. I bet Bradley Walsh doesn't ask many questions about the Metrolink

There's no-one in Manchester sat in or outside their home saying that Burnham is a great guy! Probably a few dungarees knocking about though.
