Summer Transfers

LOL
what your stance on our Academy & Our use of it?

I actually explained my stance a few days ago. I would like to see more lads who've earned their stripes get into the first team. I think when we look at positions needing filled in the squad, we should look to the academy and the loanees first and see if theres someone suitable. I think a good example of this is CB - We've got Garcia in the first team and established there, he's not been with the EDS this season and he's been treated as a first teamer having to earn his spot every week. Taylor H-B is obviously the one right behind him, there's a year and 21 days between them. And THB I believe made his debut in the EDS in 18/19 due to injuries and has pretty much been there since. Both look really good prospects. I think Garcia is on the right path and he's probably in line to compete with Stones for the starting RCB slot whilst Bellis was still going between first team and academy. I think THB could probably use a loan to an upper Champ/lower Prem side, maybe Leeds?, to get some regular senior football, and then ahead of 21/22, City can assess whether to bring him back if he's developed enough or not.

that should be the aim; use the academy where possible, then consider transfers in. If theres nobody suitable in the academy, then buy a new player.

I think we need a very big summer. We currently have one good CB and one young/inexperienced CB with lots of potential. We desperately need to replace Otamendi and it really should be the end of the line for Stones also. We haven't even replaced Kompany yet!

Left-back continues to be a weak point. We can't continue with Mendy and Zinchenko as our only two options there if we want to challenge for the league. On the other side, Cancelo seems to want out. We'll need a strong replacement there given Walker's form last season.

We should probably be thinking about moving Gundogan on, given that he is a major defensive liability when playing against strong opposition. If we lose Sane then that will also dent the budget.

David Silva is leaving, who has been a major cog in our recent success. We may look internally for his replacement, but that remains to be seen. Gabriel Jesus is another possible departure, though I think we have a better chance of persuading him to say.

Finally, Claudio Bravo's time may be coming to an end.

Okay good I agree with you on this.

But what I don't understand is what you are saying here:
And that's why I'm skeptical of your list of 7/8. We've had ready made/22+ yrs old players all this time, why would we suddenly scrap that when its delivered us the best success ever just to sign players who look like top prospects?

If our aim is to use the "academy where possible" to strengthen the first team, then we are using players "who look like top prospects" correct?
if we have no such players in the academy, is it wrong of us to look for those type of players in the transfer market? instead of going after:

Because according to you, our aim should be to look for "Players who look like Top Prospects:"

Get in there Ezzy, I love the information and, if it comes off, great stuff. We have a history of slagging off anyone who gives information. Personally, I couldn't care less if you're fifteen, sitting on a copy of Razzle, and tapping whatever comes into your head, or an obese baldy in a stained V-neck, with ash and phlegm covering your keyboard. I enjoy your posts and relish the prospect of a new season with an influx of young talent.

In the press today Gundogan is talking about moving to Turkey, now that is somebody letting the market know he is available, but who comes in? i have said Havertz would do a better job, but we are after Bailey according to the press, he has not had a good season for his standards, but Leverkusen will not sell both?

Worry about people like you even giving him the time of day. He is sat in his bedroom dreaming about football manger players doing massive write ups like he’s pep himself when in reality he knows absolutely fuck all.

Very very strange behaviour. He needs help.

Then use the ignore button or post something of interest !

And " people like me " aren't trying to belittle other posters .

Serious question Ezzy how old are you,
I'm not being funny or anything I'm just curious mate

Ismaïla Sarr looks like a decent player. Watford may still get relegated. We could go for him as a Sane's replacement

My point about the academy was to use the players who've come up through it, City should always be buying the top 15-17 year olds to keep the 18s/EDS stacked in the hopes some turn good enough for the first team. What I don't think we should be doing is buying an army of 18/19 year olds for the first team which push the younger academy lads further down the chain. Thats what I mean, of course we all dream of a homegrown City XI winning the League and all the rest, but ready made players 22-26 etc should always be the first team transfers in priority, with say 15-17 the academy transfer priority. I hope that makes sense

Pau Torres
Hakimi
Alaba
Havertz
Sancho

out:

bravo
Cancelo
Otamendi
Angelino
Gundogan
Sané
David Silva
Jack Harrison
Patrick Roberts
Alexia García

if we win at CAS and rules get relaxed with FFP then get spending! Lol. The dippers are struggling for cash at the minute and may have to sell to buy. We will have a huge chuck of wages freed up from bravo, Merlin and Otamendi alone? Decent fees from Sané and cancelo or possible swap for him with another team? Chelsea strengthened already and our biggest failing is not improving properly when we are top? Madrid and Barça buy every summer window some new top players and our recruitment last summer was not good enough! Love Rodri but not signing a CB was ridiculous.

Agree with all bar the unlikelihood of bagging Alaba , so Chiwell would be good. and I wouldn’t sell Cancelo. Also, think Sancho is highly unlikely and Aouar would be good. Gundogan has another season or so I think.

Just been mentioned on BT that Saka has one year left on his contract. I’d love to sign him, very versatile, English, quick and has good fundamentals I think Pep could really do a job with.
