My last post on this thread.

Nonsense.

The most influential, shrewd and forward thinking people ever to be involved in football make their decisions on how and when to invest based upon the influence of a corrupt, unstable, power hungry, small time little ****?

I don't think so.

Don't confuse them having 'contact' with this tosser with them either rating his opinion or even respecting him.

What a gross disservice this 'No Thaksin, No Sheik' rubbish does to our owners.

It's a fact and our owners have said so. They moved quickly to get him away from the club but facts are facts.

My last post on this thread? Lol

Svens season was my favouritw of the 23 years watching city
After the awful season before and as a blue i had become dissolutioned in going to the match Sven brought excitment back to the club he made me feel proud to be a city fan again he was an absolute gent.
The first half of the season was some of the best football I have seen from city
The second half of the season was some of the most memorable as a fan.
I was just a little too young for the Swailes out capaigns of the early 90s I was at the protest's and had a the home shirt with 9 lee on the back but really I didnt know what was going on
The SAVE OUR SVEN campaign I was more involved in From Liverpool away being filmed outside ground by sky singing 'we dont need no phil scolari song' to being at the 8-1 match with my banana and the save our sven poster stuck to it and be part of one the moat sureal away ends ever to the march round the stadium and my dog with a city scarf getting on telly all this was because of Sven and because of Sven he made me love going to the match again and made realise why I chose city as a kid when my brother and mates were reds and for that Sven will always make me smile and grateful for the 10 months he was our boss.
Thanks Sven but please can you have another 8-1 defeat for your team for old times sake on sunday

Loved Sven, was absolutley gutted when he was sacked, but surely our best time was under KK

Have I ever said before that Thaksin was a **** and the very worst person to ever be involved with this club, by a country mile?

Didn,t thaksin introduce us and all the land around us to his royal highness, lets not forget its not what you know but who.
All previous owners looked for investment or co ownership but came up blank, just look at Everton for lack of investment. Thaksin through his contacts took us to the next level and for all of is other issues we should not forget that. He may have been a dick but he helped us.

Aha, same old SOS members are grouping here again. ;)

Whatever exaggerated fictions are thrown out by the Thaksin haters, but you can't distort the pure fact that ...

I don't know what went behind the scenes at City when Thaksin was in charge (hopefully some of the 'itks' might disclose that) but I was glad to see the back of Sven. His teams always seemed more style over substance and I doubt, even with HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's backing, he would be able to grind out results like Bob Manc has.

you dont think that has anything to do with the quality of the squad, sven had? you knyou ow Mancini played under Sven and then started his coaching under Sven, so you can aruge Mancini pretty much learned every thing from Sven. Thats why Mancini rate Sven as the most important person in his football life..

Sorry but how is that nonsense?

Ignoring whatever ties Shinawatra had with Mansour, however tenuous, the very fact he sold the club and didn't run it into the ground (a la Glazer) means without Thaksin we would have no Sheikh.

It will be intersting indeed to read the reactions of some people to the facts of this situation when they are eventually fully disclosed.

The reality is that Thaksin all but scuppered the ADUG takeover with his ridiculous personal demands. (You may want to ask about the honourary president title which was later quietly removed, or the residual 5% ownership stake, also quietly removed. And in asking these questions, consider the track record of Abu Dhabi investment).

The fact is that Shinawatra put no money at all into the club and brought us perilessly close to financial ruin. When the potential bail out came, he acted in his own interests first, second and last. Without the intervention of other board members, the deal would have been lost. As for no Thaksin no Sheikh? The reality is actually Sheikh in spite of Thaksin. He very nearly spoiled the whole thing.

Some hugely negative comments on Thaksin here, and if there is one person who deserves them, it is him. He has never done anything for anyone but himself, and anyone who thinks otherwise knows nothing about him.
