Swansea - Post match thread

Sane was great first half. Not sure why, but it seems the team decided he wasn't available second half. Great from Jesus, Fernandino looked like he missed 4 games. Overall good but can do better.

Fookin hell this place is depressing. Only popped in to share the celebrations of a last min winner by our very own wonderkid and players gettin slated. Sergio our greatest striker is off and pep doesnt know how to manage a team over 90min! Jesus wept. Wheres the city won and spoiled the ragtop headlines in the last min thread?
Great isn't it always keep a bottle of scotch and plenty of aspirins handy

You think it's bad that idiotic options are ridiculed?

Are you one of these things that believe all opinions are equal and valid.
I'm one of those things that believe opinions create debate, this forum would be shite without opinions, some of which I believe are utterly bizzare and some of which I agree with, the post to which I referred has created much discussion and has contributed towards discussion, if opinions differ to mine so be it, but I won't belittle anyone who has one of their own.

Thought we were brilliant in first half and Sane, Silva and Jesus were unplayable.
Some of the quick passing and movement deserved much more than a single goal.
Second half credit to Swansea who had a go and made it much more difficult for us.
Very happy that we got that late winner because anything less would have been a travesty.
Mike Dean was a wanker and let Swansea get away with plenty, but couldn't wait to book our players.

Sane and Silva were insane in the first half, I have no idea why he swapped Silva and De Bruyne in the 2nd half to completely stifle that combination. The first half was incredible football.

We heard a different interview as I heard he said he could clearly see the ball.

“I have to say that there were players in front of the ball, so I didn’t even see the shot,” Cech told Sky Sports. “To be honest, there were people running across and I don’t know if one of them was David Silva or not, but I didn’t see the ball because it was behind the players.”

Not that I'm carrying on arguing the case of whether I think we may have benefitted as it could have been called offside, especially given refereeing standards in our matches, but to be called out numerous times when it's there on his sky sports interview transcript. Make of it what you will.

Game was almost identical to Boro. Total domination in first half but without scoring the hatful we could have and then came out very flat in second. Though Sterling was excellent until he got a yellow for what could have been a penalty but no way it was a dive. Refs certainly seem to target him and I don't think he's a diver so not sure why.

It was a must win game and that's what we did. Only complaint was our subs. I would have brought Zab on very early in second because Dinho wasn't playing well. Not sure why Kompany hasn't played since Palace game either.

So you expect him to say he saw the ball?

I believe he was talking about the defenders. Tbh, I was shocked as Arsenal usually whinge and look for excuses.

I agree. The first sub was absolutely right as KDB was having no impact & Dinho was struggling playing in that role. But he should have done it around 65 minutes or even sooner.

The second sub was 5-10 minutes too late and the last one was, in my view, grossly irresponsible and unnecessary. There were seconds to go in a game we'd rescued but it allowed Dean to add more time on.

J remember Moyes doing that when Everton were 1-0 up and Micah scored in the added on time. Utterly stupid.

Refuse to believe he can't see it. It's Guardiola. Think it's more an element of stubborness and wanting the team to work through these spells.

Same as we've played all season. Left to right, right to left. Limited end product
Yes Sané is better than Navas and Jesus is better than Aguero and we did it with more pace in the first half, but the point still stands. KDB and Silva were out wide towards the flanks too much leaving Jesus isolated in the middle.
We seriously have to mix things up more and especially if the opposition fall back in the centre in front of our players to protect the flanks we need to drive deep into the centre of their defence rather than push it wide (at least on occasion). If we do the same shit all the time it's easier to defend against.

Rant over.

Good win otherwise - we didn't give up.

Hard to read some of the stuff about Silva today. As usual he was at heart of everything we created. In injury time, under the pressure we were under, to find that pin point pass - that is the definition of leadership. In contrast to some posts on here questioning him as captain.

Didn't see any of the post match stuff earlier today, so apologies for the tardiness of this post and also the posibility (probability?) that it's already been mentionedJust saw Clement whining about our winning goal, claiming that
A. Kolarov wasn't fouled at the start of the move that led to the goal. Arguable.
B. The free kick wasn't taken from the actual spot where the foul took place. Which is correct.
C. The free kick was taken with a rolling ball. Again, correct.

Strangely enough though, he didn't offer an opinion on Swansea's goal having more than a hint of offside about it.

I will sign off now after my wee drink by saying, I am so happy with our win, and, cannot understand the negative posts I have read :-)

He is going to be another Brendan Rodgers.
