He did but I'm sure Sinners injury played a part. It’s a shame Dimitrov had to retire in the quarters. He completely outplayed Sinner.

Alvarez. Not a good look for tennis that two of the finalists in the men’s and women’s have both served doping bans. What's the preference on here then; Sinner, or Alcaraz?
Nah; he's been at Atletico Madrid for a while now.Alvarez. Not a good look for tennis that two of the finalists in the men’s and women’s have both served doping bans.
Oops!Nah; he's been at Atletico Madrid for a while now.

Both about as performance enhancing as much as we benefited from "disguised owner investment". It's sometimes worth looking beyond the headlines, I thought all City fans would know that.Alvarez. Hey even snooker has its fallen heroes win the big prize.Alvarez. Not a good look for tennis that two of the finalists in the men’s and women’s have both served doping bans.
Wawrinka won 3 of the 4 majors , I think.I think it's a stretch to say it was a 3 man era. Djokovic slams were won between 2008 and 2023, during that time 8 other men won grand slams with Murray winning 3 and Wawrinka 2. Dominated by certainly but more than the 4 of them were successful.
I remember Lendl skipping the French in 1989 to try and win elusive Wimbledon. He was 2 sets to love against Becker in the semi-final when rain came, he lost 3-2!Wawrinka won 3 of the 4 majors , I think.
Was watching a programme recently on how difficult it was win all 4.
They showed a list of players who never managed it and the likes of Borg, Connors, McEnroe , Lendl and Sampras from the old days couldn't manage it. Agassi did it eventually.
Murray and Wawrinka were equal on 3.
Looking forward to seeing this rivalry progress.Excellent final, and well done Jannik, a true champion ...... Carlos will defintely be back though.

I hate all the bowing and scraping and the doffing of caps to "nobility", but they know how to run a tournament. It's a great sporting event.Alcaraz’s form seemed to desert him today. His service was poor, and the drop shot, one of his main weapons was unreliable. Overall his accuracy was missing. He started chuntering at his box, always a bad sign.
Maybe it was because Sinner just would not let him play. His serve was devastating, powerful and accurate. His return of serve deadly. A fine performance and a worthy winner. Not a great final but a relentless grind.

Wimbledon this year did away with line judges. I missed them, their signals and the umpire’s call of “Out, second service.”
The ball boys and girls were brilliant as always, snapping into position and standing ramrod straight. Their training is rigorous and their work rate prodigious. Nobody does it like Wimbledon.
Till next year then.
I'd rather a player launch that trophy in the air and enjoy the moment milking the celebration. Imagine winning the top tier trophy and immediately having to bow to Royalty. It's so weird.I hate all bowing and scraping and the doffing of caps to "nobility", but they know how to run a tournament. It's a great sporting event.
What is royalty? A family of self selecting individuals who call themselves kings and queens. A load of codswallop.I'd rather a player launch that trophy in the air and enjoy the moment milking the celebration. Imagine winning the top tier trophy and immediately having to bow to Royalty. It's so weird.
Also, imagine losing the final and then immediately having to address royalty.
