The battle for 3rd place

Top four is in our own hands.

We win our games, we qualify. Simple.

If we don't qualify, it's because we didn't deserve to. I think we will, with room to spare. If we don't it make the next few years interesting to say the least.

We have to qualify. Missing out doesn't bear thinking about.

Our remaining games are largely very winnable. United and some of the others chasing us are sure to drop a few points -- I think we're safe. Surprisingly, the fact we have more games at home than otherwise isn't necessarily a benefit this season oddly enough.

The weather is getting warmer, our boys will come out to play.

Would've been happier if arsenal hadn't have won tonight though.

Not sure top 4 is the be all and end all myself.

Liverpools best attempt at the title was when they had no CL, Chelsea have done well this season and Arsenal historical always finish top 4 but don't really improve.

It is another of Sky's marketing that has really changed the way people view what is a successful season.

Yes, you get some good games and the players must like it and yes it helps to attract new ones. But so does money and ambition and a lot of deals will already be in place. 1 season out of CL would not mean they all fall apart.

For the record I think we will get it, but things move fast in football and next season top 4 will be a 'must' again for all teams regardless whether they finish top 4 or not this season.

Just my thoughts, appreciate others will be different.

difference is we'd end up in the Europa which would scupper our league campaign anyway.

Problems is, if we finish 5th we can forget about a league challenge.

Also I think the hierarchy at the club would take the champions league over the league title any day.

The Europa the European trophy where the main incentive of winning is that you don't play in it again the next season!

That probably is the worse thing about it.

I appreciate for the owners it would be a step back, but I still think it is over hyped the importance of missing it for one season.

For me a PL is needed in order to become the dominant team in England and that's what I want. A CL however takes the club to another level completely in terms of our overall profile and for the owner that is going to be the golden ticket.

For the record I think we will finish third, but not convinced we will get the FA Cup though. We have as good a chance as anyone but 2 tough games in order to win it.
