The Boxing thread

I’ll never understand the idea that a boxer needs to retire after he’s lost a few fights.
The problem Joshua has now is where does he go from here?

Whilst Usyk and Fury are about they are by far the best in the division and Joshua can't beat either of them. He's a prize fighter he wants to be heavyweight champion of the world. Still big fights out there for Joshua to take, Personally I think it's best for hos own health that avoids Wilder at all costs. It's worrying the speech he had last night, The last thing he needs is a right hand from Wilder who has the best one punch power in the division.

The judge who gave it to Joshua had obviously made their mind up before the fight or had a bet on a split decision ffs
Absolutely horrendous and really puts people off boxing. The Badou Jack fight was a disgrace too. Felt sorry for Zhang as well no way he lost that fight either.

But to score Joshua 115-112 is an absolute disgrace and needs to be called out in boxing.

There's a real tangible difference to calling someone 'not good enough' to calling them a 'shithouse'.

There are some real fat fuckers/ shitty people in real life on here making crappy comments.

That's my issue.
Fair enough, mate. I hadn't noticed the post with someone calling him a shithouse.

With that in mind I see the point you were making.

Much as I don't like to use this analogy, this thought process is like calling the Dippers 'a shit team cos they won the Prem once when we were poor that season'.

They've been constantly outclassed by our better team.

That doesn't make them shit, but probably be perpetual champions in another era.

Come on, thread, let's not be silly with the Joshua comments (not picking on you, FI).
Reading in between the lines, he's definitely picking on you @FantasyIreland ........... ;-)

As I've said, it depends on the type of commentary issued out. Joshua is, clearly, not 'shit'.

As I've said in the thread, this fight came too early for him with his switch of trainer. He still has potential, but has to commit and undo the plodding foot planting style he's learned over the last 10 years. He moved his head more than I've ever seen him do before and had a hugely improved gas tank.

His issue is the waiting on pulling the trigger which saps the tank for him. He has to address that.

He has the tools, it's just down to his learning curve now.

That's a critique and fair.
Joshua definitely isn't "shit".

He's in a really difficult situation because he's constantly in the limelight, The media, pundits and public constantly on his case so it certainly can't be easy. The media especially have bigged him up from an early age so massive pressure on him to perform.

He's far from the finished article, He's 32 years of age I know heavyweights can stick around longer than most other weight divisions but personally I think it's too late for him to get anywhere near the level of a Fury or Usyk. They set the standard both are absolutely sensational fighters. Unfortunately for Joshua I think he stayed far too long with Rob McCracken he took Joshua as far as he could years ago imo.
