The Boxing thread

Just watched Joshua on sky. Can't warm to him for some reason.

Looking forward to his next fight though.

When is Franpton v quigg?

2 weeks time for Frampton v Quigg.

Also Aj you wont be warming to him too much. His world title fight is going on Sky Box Office. Hearn is taking the piss. Quigg v Frampton box office the fight is a good 1 but the undercard is shit shouldnt be on box office. AJ on Boxoffice they should try everything to get David Haye on the card too and try and build up that fight for the future. They need another World title fight on that card maybe get James DeGale on it too for it to sell.

Sky are taking the piss with the josh v martin fight, sadly fans will pay it, myself included. They've got you by the bollox unless you've got a dodgy box or you can get a decent stream. At least with Boxnation you don't pay on top, for the big fights.
Decent card from MSG after Frampton, Quigg, with Terence Crawford topping the bill. This kids the buisness.

They've spent so much money on bringing Martin over there will be no decent undercard fights. DeGale will be a name on it but only because his mandatory is a pisspoor roadsweeper. The precedent was set when people shelled out £15 for a British title fight, sadly a lot of my "casual" fan mates have been sucked into the Joshua hype and are now willing to shell out PPV for a his fights regardless of who hes facing or whos on the card.

I know they seem to think AJ is the real deal. 1 fight he had the Martin lad he's fighting ain't that great either. I think AJ has a chance but he will be tested more if he fought Chisora as this if it is a bad night then AJ will find it hard he hasn't been majorly hurt going into a World title is a concern no one knows if his chin can take a shot no wonder Hearn is cashing in on this fight 1 bad night AJ is back on normal Sky shows.

March 20th.

Roy Jones has offered $100k if a 'fan' can put him on his arse. The event will be shown on ppv. Fans have been asked to send videos in and the 'best' one will be chosen.

Fucking crazy, should of cashed his chips after Enzo destroyed him.

I know there was talks of a Roy Jones Jnr v Steve Collins fight there last year or 2 but thankfully they never got it on. I know Steve Collins was pissed off to miss out on the Roy Jones fight when they were both fighting claiming that Roy Jones Jnr was avoiding him. I don't know if Roy Jones is strapped for cash but its just a bit silly. So are fans getting a free shot on Roy Jones Jnr chin if so he is a nut job.

Videos will be sent in then put online with 'fans' to choose who will be fighting. Not sure how many rounds but no free shot.

Madness that its going to be on PPV that Roy Jones thing. See Itv are looking at getting back into the boxing with a rumoured 20 fight deal with Al Haymon looking to get those dates. Now I dont know if its all bullshit but if it happens it could be as quickly as June for there first fight. There coverage be spread over ITV 1 and ITV 4. So expect some fights of Amir Khan , Lee Selby , Carl Frampton and James Degale could all well be on ITV sport. I think that by the end of next week or so that Itv will make up there mind what they are going to do.
It seems ITV must have money to splash since loosing the Champions League and boxing is on the agenda. Also they are looking at the Al Haymon model were boxing is free to air with the promotor and the tv station sharing a split on the advertising during the fights. So if this happens I think it would be brilliant for boxing in the UK it will add a lot of competition for Sky . Channel 5 and ITV and if they all get the air time we might well see some great talent getting the spotlight they deserve on mainstream tv.

Quite fancy going along to watch frampton next week - will there be more mancs or Irish there and will it be safe.

Can't be arsed with any violence.

I've heard David Price is 'back' training in Sheffield with Tony Bellew. He went to Germany to reinvent himself but sadly all went wrong, remember him getting knocked out in the 1st round against some Polish kid in his last fight. Decent jab but cant take a shot, Audley Harrison didn't know when to retire either.

Hope we do get some big fights back on mainstream tv, nothing wrong with healthy competition.

There will be a lot of Irish fans I heard its a sell out but a lot of touts picked up tickets and were looking for silly money for them but i think they aint getting as much as they want. The card aint great to be honest. Go if you get a ticket at face value just look at the card it will be electric atmosphere a lot of Irish will be around the town and with Ireland v England Rugby game on early in the day there will be some drinking from early. I rarely see any troble in the fights over here I expect that it will be the same at the arena come fight night. Sure a lot of the Irish will be from early watching some of there Irish guys on the bill from early in the day.

So, any predictions for the big fight on Saturday night.

The lad I've bet reckons Quigg by Ko in the 8th.
I'm sticking with Frampton on points.

What ever happens I'm sure it'll be a tare up, the atmosphere will be something else.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster this, there's also a Bolton/Burnley game so some of the lads could head into town as there is also a BNP march in Mcr on Saturday . I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes off.

Getting really bored of this Gallagher/McGuigan war of words now, you'd think its them two going in the ring on saturday, what a pair of egos.
