The combination of our intelligence and nature along with technology (created by the foregoing) will fuck us. I’m also coming to the conclusion (although I concede I could just be getting older) that technology is making us angrier and generally more unhappy, despite all the obvious benefits it can and does bring.
Too much stimulation and not enough relaxation mate, completely agree.

I think we sense certain things, especially pleasure, too much. Humans are increasingly chasing it at the expense of the planet. You can’t blame people for wanting to maximise the all too brief experience of life in whatever way they can. It’s in their nature. Therein lies the problem. Human nature.

We're an evolutionary anomaly, or even mistake.

Possibly, although I'd hate to lose all faith that we can improve and fix it, even though I come close sometimes.
There's many beautiful things about the human race and I love people. Don't trust them though.

I feel exactly the same, mate. I genuinely like most people. Don’t dislike many folk. Hate hardly anyone. There’s lots about humans to love and admire, but we have this destructive, selfish streak which cannot be contained.

I also think technology, because of its power, brings out the worst in us.

Yeah, ego. It's what got us to where we are but it's also what is going to kill us unless genius gets us out of it. Advances in technology have saved us over the last 2 centuries but they're coming in the wrong areas now and we seem to be approaching a tipping point. It'll take a far more intelligent human than me to figure out how to fix that.

Maybe a widespread event that wiped out 90% of the population would be the solution. Certainly, the planet is much more likely to sustain a human population of a few hundred million.

I've said this before. A pathogen with an infection rate of around 84-87% and a kill rate of 95-100%, but the problem with that is that A- it could mutate and kill the rest of us and B- the more people on the planet the more chance we have of genius saving us. Although on the positive side it would be completely random and therefore fair. We'd need to introduce population control afterwards though and with a heavily fractured society that would be difficult.

Yeah, the aftermath could simply see a descent into chaos and perpetual warfare.

Tory Kueensberg hot take on the assault.. .

Bizarre response from Kuenssberg. Why on earth would that be your first reaction to a woman being assaulted by a government minister?! Presumably Field will lose his job for this, and deservedly so.

Well get the bloody quote right at least. Although I'm happy with that description too, tbf.

Honestly, you'd think it's only people who work for the NHS who have to work hard. People might have noticed my absence around here lately. Maybe it's something to do with my work being full on and my doing 100 hour weeks at the moment.
Nope - anyone? ;-)

I personally think he should be given a medal.
There was no visible security presence.
I think he was brave to intervene and remove the threat.
The protester could have been armed , in the current climate ,who knows.
It was obvious that Labour would jump on this as they have nothing else that's clear at the moment.
If he is prosecuted for this , then John Prescott should be dragged back to court for punching a member of the public who was also protesting.
Otherwise it's "pot , kettle . . . kettle, pot ".

Not a good look to put it mildly...

“In this longer version of the video, you can see the woman apparently posing no immediate threat as she passes behind Mark Field. He marches her out of the room by her neck. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say she didn’t pose a risk, but it looks heavy handed” @paulbranditv

What can we conclude if someone’s first reaction to a lady in a red dress, with a sash protesting about the enviroment, is to grab her by the back of the neck and frog March her out of the room?

I’m going with utter utter arsehole.

Hope not. What if she was armed? Had a bomb? Had a knife? Who knew what her intentions were?

The person who should be sacked is the person in charge of security.

I don't think Greenpeace are renowned for using those sort of tactics tbh.

True, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a terrorist or mentally ill person would claim to be from Greenpeace. Fact is she should not have been there and for him to lose his job for this is OTT in my opinion.
