The decision to loan Barry and keep Garcia.

Make sure you give it a strong head butt.

Intend to let me know when you open a we should never have sold De Jong thread so I can stick some 6 inch nails through my boll*cks.

We sold De Jong, we have only loaned Barry and can get him back at the end of the season.
Think about it.

In reference to wages, I think we could have got money for Garcia and have his wages off the books so that would have more than covered Barry.
I also think Barry could have stepped in for either Yaya or Fernandinho more effectively.

Barry's contract is up this summer

His performances in the Champions League over the past two seasons would be a major factor, he can still hack it in the EPL for Everton, but was woefully exposed at the highest level of club football.

He only has a contract with us till the end of the season and then he's a free agent, it was effectively a free transfer to get his wages off the books.
In answer to the OP, cause barry wouldn't have played here and Garcia wouldn't be taking as many points off our title rivals out on loan.

we could have kept both, especially with Rodwell being injured even more than last season (which I didn't think was possible)

True mate, but Garcia will probably go this summer, so either way we'd have
had to find a new CM.
I think there were ways we could have gone about it, with subsidising Barry's wage
and keeping the better player.

Everton are proving to be a bit of a thorn in the side of those in and around us, they've beaten United and Chelsea whilst holding Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool to draws. We have so far managed to beat them at home.

Barry is a key figure in their team, more important than someone like Lukaku because of his experience playing the big teams at the top of the table. He is still effectively doing a job for City because he can't play against us so therefore can't hurt us.

If we can win the fixture at Goodison (a big ask historically) and Everton continue to pinch points off our rivals, it will be a huge boost for out title chances. Would he have been better in our team? Probably, but he's not done us any harm and it actually might turn out to be a good strategic move by City.

We play them there in the last away game of the season after that we only have whu at home i really hope we can take the title since then so we will not have to worry about that..i just HOPE

Maybe he doesn't fit the long term plans of the type of technical player we want. We may get his value up by letting him play first team football. Maybe we have a deal with Everton for one of theirs. I just have a gut feeling that the people now running the club aren't in the business of making mistakes.

Glancing over the thread, it seems all the likely reasons have been cited. But I'd also add that Barry probably isn't suited to the bit-part player role - as excellent as he was for us in general, he often looked rusty as fuck even after a couple of games out. He seems the type who needs the rhythm of regular football, I don't think he would have been very effective coming on here and there, playing one game in five.

thats a good shout. I also didn't realise his contract was up soon. Better to shepherd him off to a club that is lesser than the 4 other evils. He would walk into the rags side right now.

Just another excuse to knock Garcia who is a far better player than given credit for by a lot of blues
