The decision to loan Barry and keep Garcia.

The whole thrust of this thread has things completely wrong.

Barry has been replaced in the team by Ferdinandinho. He has proved to be a major improvement on Barry.

Barry presumably did not want to spend a season as a bit part player largely coming off the bench hence he was loaned to Everton. He has proved capable of holding a place in their team and doing damage to City's main rivals. This is similar to the position of De Jong a couple of seasons back. He was unwilling to sit on the bench and was sold before his contract was run down.

Garcia has been retained as a squad player to cover the defensive midfield and central defence positions and to shore up the defence where needed much as Viera did in his last season. For me Garcia has done nothing wrong and has looked very solid featuring in the majority of PL matches despite only six starts. Pellegrini presumably knows the capabilities of Garcia having managed him at two clubs (and selling him to Benfica!).

Much though Barry has been a great player for City over the years so it is right for him to move on at this stage. City don't want to follow the example of United and let most of their midfield grow old together.

I wish people would stop resorting to thinking logically and talking sense.

Indeed.

Laughable.

I suppose mummy or daddy won't let you go to midweek games,
as you have school tomorrow.

Hahaha you do make me laugh. Your knowledge of City is really limited

I'm not getting drawn into a petty slanging match anyway, I heard that wall's missing your fat head.

The irony. Anyway you've done your best to ruin what was already a ridiculous thread.

I've been watching Everton a bit this season and in particular Barry, of whom I'm a huge fan.
This isn't a thread cricising Pellegrini, as I really like him and think he's improved things,
but I want to know why the club decided we'd loan Gareth but keep Javi?

Barry's passing is far more varied and he can make penetrative balls through,
whereas Garcia cannot and passes from side to side.
Their pace is similar - next to none, but Barry reads the game much better and
get's into positions early so his pace isn't too much of an issue.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently (I know I should be just enjoying
our form!) and I want to know what other blues think?

I personally think it was a terrible decision, as was selling Suarez. The good news
is the rest of our transfer market, Jovetic aside, was fantastic.

Barry wanted to play every week. Garcia appears content not to.

The one thing I cannot understand is the input Kiddo would have had. Surely he would have trumpeted Barry's virtues to Pellegrini, and made sure Pellers was aware of the contribution that GazBaz had made and could make to a team in rotation!
I'm sure all of that would have been undone if Pellegrini had viewed Barry in the Champions League, which he very well likely had.
Or as pointed out 10000000000000000 million fecking times that Barry did not want to be a squad player
True. I didn't want to tread that ground again.

Because Garcia can obviously do and frequently does the job Pellegrini asks him to and Barry didn't want to sit on the bench.

I'm sure if you asked Manuel which players had disappointed him this season Javi wouldn't be on that list. If we had have loaned Garcia we couldn't bring on Rodwell to close out games because he isn't disciplined positionallly, as good in possession or as good in the air as Garcia, in fact I'd argue even Barry wouldn't be as good as Garcia at the screening role. Obviously Barry is a better creative player but clearly that isn't the role Javi is asked to play.

So I'd expect to Pellegrini the decision to loan Barry and keep Garcia was an obvious one.

its not a football decision .its a finance driven one, football is about balancing the two,we are slashing the wage bill.teves, mario, kolo, barry,

How do those claiming that Barry didn't want to stay and be merely a squad player know this.

Did you read it in the papers ?

As others have pointed out a four pronged assault on immortality offers all the squad plenty of first team opportunities. Claiming Gareth wanted away for 1st team football is an easy throwaway line to use but isn't fact based as far as i can see.

Barry's twice the player Garcia will ever be and would've been a much better deputy for Ferna.

If Barry really wanted to stay and be a squad player, why didn't he do just that? City couldn't force him to go to Everton.
