The Labour Government

My mrs disability benefits have finally been sorted 14months after she had to be 're-assessed' (just in case she magically recovered from an incurable disease) under the last government.
Back-dated lump sum and moved to highest rates. Also a very nice letter from dwp in which the tone was helpfull rather than accusing.

The doctors are next.
An 11% increase incoming.
But matter not. It’s only the pensioners winter fuel allowance…

Jeez, some people in here are taking it hard about Labour being in power.

Im enjoying this brief period where the country is collectively trying to get out of the shite that the last govn brought about. It wont last long though, but yeah, a big fuckoff to those who woould rather see us go back to that shite.

Would doing a job where having petrol bombs and blast bombs thrown at me, or having catapults fired at me, or a gunman "disappear" down an alleyway when challenged be "real world" enough for you?
You obviously haven't got a clue about the "real world", you just read the propaganda of the French Lord Rothemere, the former Aussie tax fraudster and their ilk and believe it.

TBF I don’t get that in my job so it’s probably not normal. They don’t get paid enough, you’ll hear no argument from me that wages need to rise in both public and private sectors.

They are encoraging the tens of thousands who are eligble for pension credit to get it , martin lewis the same , most dont even know about it, it is a good thing to do and they will keep the winter fuel payments

I'm not eligible for it, neither are my 93 year old father and 86 year old mother. It's a bit of a strange philosophy. Cut the winter fuel payment unless you claim pension credit.
I will lose my WFP along with all the other “wealthy pensioners” wish I was wealthy but don’t have any health insurance so any savings will go on Private health care and doctors.
I agree with scrapping the WFP for exceptional circumstances people with hundreds of millions in the bank
Labour have forgotten that the WFP is to help cover the huge rises in gas and electricity and the state pension is hardly wealthy it’s Tory philosophy and they will suffer at the next election
Look at the table we are near the bottom 15th they could have got the money by VAT on luxury goods

No. Because the pensions are index linked against inflation for the lifetime of the employee.

I don't doubt lowering employer (i.e. Gov) contributions and upping employee contributions would, in the longer term, be a saving (but small in the big picture), however i would be interested to learn whether it is cheaper or not to offset poorer pay with better pension contributions. Have a good day.

Bollocks I’m all for helping people out, but there’s plenty given too those who don’t need it that could be redistributed, my mum and dad don’t need the winter allowance so hopefully that can be given in some other way to those that need it, yes there are lots of people on low paid incomes and they get help with tax credits, I’m on about thinking long term, planning for your future , if you think you can stay low paid forever and then retire and live a decent life on state pension you are sadly mistaken. The idea is that as you get older more experienced you move on try and better yourself, work in a bar, clean etc but then try for better and then someone else takes that job. I’m all for helping people but they need to want to help themselves as well. Let me ask you do,you think they should remove the cap on two child benefit? I certainly don’t because again that’s a choice, there was woman on with 6 kids saying she can’t manage etc, well here’s a thought close your legs love, or do you advocate we should just keep chucking cash her way?
Has she got an iPhone and a flat screen tv?
