The Labour Government

Prejudices are accepted throughout our society. Landlords not renting out to those on benefits is a prime example.

Used to be no blacks, no Irish, no dogs.

No DSS is unlawful. Some batshit unenforceable rules in tenancy agreements that require tenants to move out if they lose their job. Unenforceable as long as you are paying the rent though.

A friend of mine had 4 houses she rented out, she's now has two apartments in Lytham. The reason being non payment, causing damage to the properties and stealing a boiler, it was too stressful. Some of her renters were on benefit's, they were the worse because they got their PIP/Universal Credit payments which included rent allowance but "forgot" to pay their rent.

Before anyone pulls me up I know I've used a tautology.

It's not discrimination it's purely financial, she was in danger of going broke, most Landlords have finance to pay on properties with hopefully a profit at the end of the year. If some renters are likely to default it's a business decision not to take them on.

My brother-in-law buys derelict properties and does them up to then sell or rent out. He's a 1 man band so only does 1 at a time. He's broke most of the time, with no money to do the next phase of the build.

The worst tenant he ever had, ironically, was a solicitor!!! She repeatedly damaged the property, failed to pay months of rent and he ended up having to take her to court! I don't know how it ended up eventually but hopefully she's been disbarred.

She got what she deserved. Slum landlords deserve bad tenants.

It's not discrimination that she has placed herself in a market that has already priced out benefits claimants and. But is if she or her agents advertise as no DSS etc.

She wasn't a slum landlord, she had previously lived in one of the houses herself. She was a very good landlord and also rented to a family member's friend who caused a lot of damage. One of the properties was off Mottram Road in Stalybridge another was in Uppermill, hardly what you'd call "slums".

I don't get your point about no DSS, as I said some were on benefits, she didn't discriminate which probably caused her to pull the plug with the problems she experienced.

She's switched to holiday rental in Lytham now, with commission from the likes of Booking.com it's not as lucrative as people may think. She's a hard working girl who has a relatively modest income but her future pension pot will be good once she's paid the finance on her properties. Just to give you an idea about her lifestyle she drives a 10 year old car, lives in a flat above a pub, goes to Spain twice a year on holiday and does part time seasonal work.

Your post as ever was confrontational without having a modicum of knowledge about the situation, I think you'd be better off emigrating to North Korea where you'd feel comfortable with the politics.

I had to make good a house for Salford council it was fucked, only 2 Drs that had been living in it! Bought a house in Worsley and fucked off the neighbours said.

So she was incompetent and had no business renting out houses then. Someone owning four houses and renting them out is a slum landlord.

The point about DSS was about her current position, but you hadn't divulged the fact they are holiday lets at that point.

incompetent? She learned from her errors in renting to people who had good references and as I stated one was a friend of a family member. She sustained her business for many years always maintaining a profit but it was getting more difficult that's why she switched to the Holiday lets.

She also owns an apartment in Miraflores Spain which is only rented to close family and friends and at a really low rate.

She's far from incompetent, works hard, ran a Taxi business for many years (partnership) and deserves everything she's worked towards.

You're just a member of the looney left who can't stand others succeeding in life but you defend the feckless lazy cunts in society, pathetic.

Of course it's discrimination. You're making a judgement about who is 'likely to default' before they actually do, surely? How is it any different from a shop owner banning people who are 'likely to steal' from the shop?
