Did you read my post? Someone suggested it was policy of the 'incoming Government' - i.e. the 2024 Labour Govermnent.

I can't find all the pictures, but the Liz Kendall one was from BEFORE the 2019 election. I'd imagine the Reeves one is the same time as it's the same banner. Since they we've had Covid, Truss, and Ukraine.

The Ombudsman's report came out in March, and their immediate response was that they wouldn't commit to any payments. It wasn't in the manifesto, and Reeves ruled out any spending that she didn't have money for when asked about it. The WASPI campaign themselves had said that Labour had stopped supporting them before the election, so it can't be argued that the lied to get elected.

Those results are for between the report coming out and the election. At no time after the report coming out, did Reeves say that she was going to pay compensation. The quote I gave you above, is about as clear an indication as you can get that she said she wasn't.

I appreciate your point about opposition and Government, and don't want to appear as rude. I was really just pointing out that they didn't go into the election promising compensation.

They said the same about the IHT issue with farmers as well, stating numerous times in opposition that they wouldn’t remove the exemption, so it’s no surprise that they’ve proved so duplicitous about this issue. And that’s before we even get to what they did in the Budget.

It’s just a shame that a few on here are happier embarrassing themselves defending it all rather than just calling it out.

In the run up to this election? Why not find out when those interviews took place, rather than suggesting I watch a 3 hour programme.

Someone has just posted photos from 2019 suggesting that means Labour went into this election saying they would provide compensation.

The right wing media today are claiming Labour went into the 2024 election promising compensation. That's a complete lie, and a few on here appear to have been taken in by it.

I didn't say you were a liar.

I just said that your comment about Labour going into this election promising compensation was wrong. I found the clip from Good Morning Britain, and it appears to have shown exactly the same photos from before the 2019 election, that someone posted above. Given the way it was presented, I can understand why you made the mistake of thinking that was the policy of Labour in 2024, but it's still a mistake.

The same newspapers that are today absolutely shocked by Labour's post-election betrayal, also ran articles in March, reporting the same "betrayal". When you've got the media getting away with total lies like that, then it's not a surprise that plenty of people are now under the impression that they went into the election promising something they very clearly didn't.

The simple truth of this is an ombudsman said the DWP were wrong and Labour have publicly stated they backed the waspi women including Starmer who said it was an injustice that needed sorting when he was in opposition. Same for other current Labour cabinet members.

Whether it was put in a manifesto or not isn't hugely relevant they gave the impression to the women that they backed them and also used it politically.

Now some have said the women don't deserve anything and that's fine, they even go as far as to say that it is a stupid idea.

So are Starmer Kendall and Raynor fucking stupid for backing them in the first place? Are the posters.on here more in the know? The posters claim we now have competent people in charge.

So they can only be thick and untrustworthy or they just used these women and never had any intention of helping them. So devious and untrustworthy.

Either way it's not great is it?

Anyhow their supporters on here will just do as per.

It should have been sorted before Labour got it, and they didn't have the full information in opposition.

It was jumped on like a big no win no fee claim, and impossible to assess damage to each "claimant". It would cost more than the recommended awards to hear each case. PiP renewal claims are a year behind, that hasn't just happened - there would be no staff to do the assessments, and a brand new system would need creating leading to appeals and judicial reviews.

It is same with the winter fuel payments, those just over pension guarantee credit were the ones affected, but it worked on PGC as a means tested passport benefit, and it was not practicable or proportionate to develop an additional means test for £200.

It is the same Civil Servants and ideas for both, but the previous one started legislation that was never passed in most cases, or left so many holes extensive regulations were needed which didn't happen, they cut NI twice in a row and it needed balancing sooner or later. They knew they were on their way out so made it a desperate as possible. That and the ageing population which a decreasing workforce has to pay for. No easy decisions.
 
Seems like they’re going through their checklist of things they said they would/wouldn’t do, and doing the exact opposite. Front bench can hardly keep their faces straight. We’ve been conned, again.

That's what I have been trying to explain to him, but he is clinging onto , "it wasn't in the manifesto" so it doesn't matter. The £70 billion of tax rises wasnt in the manifesto either!

TBH Musk sticking his nose into UK politics scares me. He clearly has very little comprehension of how we as a nation work.
