The Labour Government

Just because I didn't/haven't posted in the forum doesn't mean I haven't been reading posts in it, to be honest, I usually can't be bothered to either engage or don't have the time. However I'm quite aware of the previous governments shortcomings and their greed, corruption and general vileness, but they didn't try to freeze my parents, they didn't try to destroy farming, they didn't try and gaslight us about immigration, they weren't completely under the complete control of the WEF.
And who gives a toss whether its your or you're except someone who thinks their better than everyone else, which most lefties do.
Yep, I failed English at school, but it didn't stop me getting 2 degrees and becoming an Aircraft designer.
I don't mean to be rude but if you're an aircraft designer should your parents really be relying on benefits to avoid freezing? Can't you help them out?

Obviously it's a figure of speech for pensioners up and down the country, and I've never heard the wfa being called a benefit, how anyone can defend removing it, is beyond me.

WEF? Haha.
You’re obviously a nutter.
I’ll ignore from now on.
I’m trying to understand what the thinking is, and the only WEF I know of is the World Economic Forum. If this is the one, I’m more worried about 55TS and their American backers lobbying our country than some multi-nationals who will do what they want anyway.

they didn't try to destroy farming, they didn't try and gaslight us about immigration,

eh? The previous Govt enacted Brexit pulling us out of the free market despite saying previously they were not going to do that and failed to put the border checks in place with vets and facilities to check things in and out thus destroying farmings ability to import and export to Europe and signed the CPTPP agreement which undermines our farmers so badly the Australia news were openly pissing their sides in disbelief we would sign up. All that was good for farming?

As for immigration gas light us was all they did pissing tens of millions away on a Rwanda scheme that they lied and lied about, they were adamant they had regained control of our borders and allowed net migration to top out at 800k almost in one year. That government?

Clearly it's a benefit what else could it be? My parents don't need it and they think it's good that it's been removed because it can go to help those who need it more.

It's not that hard. Do you think a single mother working full time and trying to raise two kids on her own should have her tax contributions spent on a multimillionaire's heating bill, just because he happens to be over 66? If you answer no, then you're already halfway there. The only part you disagree with is exactly when the benefit should kick in.

Any ides why the Government could not have just removed the benefit from pensioners who pay the higher rate of tax? Not having a degree in economics, nor not having worked for the bank of England for the best part of a decade I managed to think that up for myself ages ago... why couldn't the person living in number 11 do that, it seems a fairer solution?

Zahawi should have been strung up and hung out to dry, just like all the other Tory cheating lying twats.... My problem is I think the same of all Labour Politicians too.

Unlike many on here I can recognise the dishonesty and corruption on both/all sides.
That’s not my point though. The way they are reported differently is and the piles on that occur.

Even the sex pests were defended until they couldn’t be anymore.

I largely agree with that in the whole - very few of us will be politically oriented to left or right on all issues. Which is why it’s ok to criticise the party you voted for.

I’ve said before on here I’m economically right (low taxes and small state) and fundamentally believe in fairness and the safety nets of state like social security, healthcare and the role of state in things like education, wellbeing, security, etc - here I am of the camp of a strong economy provides all these things but acknowledge it’s not that simple and there is a chicken and egg situation. On top there are things like immigration where I don’t have strong views one way or another so it doesn’t influence my voting (unless the vote was a free for all or no immigration - I’d vote against either of these extremes) - overall I tend to avoid debates on it.
And I’d swing social Democrat a la Scandinavia economically. Education is paramount to enriching a population. We’re getting left behind by countries that need to better their children to improve their lives.

Immigration will never be solved, it’s just a perpetual debating point, whoever is in govenrment.

Voters going in to the next election wanting immigration solved will be”betrayed” by any government that gets voted in.

Regardless of whether we approve of it, that is one of the benefits, or do I mean drawbacks of free speech.

Who is going to draw the lines and set the parameters for free speech? Because regardless of who does it, there will always be opposition.

As they should be. Any idiot voting for a party principally on the basis of immigration policy deserves to be taken for the utter fool that they are.

It's no coincidence the loudest voices against immigration on here are sad old men and utter losers among the younger population.

If people just got on with their lives rather than being tricked into voting against the boogeymen of the day they might get more out of the time on this planet.

I do understand why they think that way, but the solution they want isn’t possible, so getting more and more vocal and extreme is just going to make things worse.

Investment in infrastructure would be far more productive than spending millions stopping the unstoppable boats. (Unless we duplicate the Dublin agreement)

I’d lay off reading twitter for a few weeks…
