It's not lazy at all, ignoring part of the problem is lazy. People like you pretending you live in some form of utopia where no one is working the system is part of the issue.Because it’s lazy and a way to avoid tackling a lot of the issues that are behind the increase in our welfare spending.
Govt imposes spending rules on themselves, fall foul of these ‘rules’, then cut their arm off to meet these ‘rules’ and blame people at the bottom for the fact they only have one arm.

No one has an issue with people who are truly disabled and struggling to make ends meet. But the fact is the number of people claiming welfare for some form of dissability has increased massively and that is just not correct when our population has got healthier. I object to paying for freeloaders, and we have a lot of them these days.

I had mixed feelings about dole fraud, for various reasons, but PIp and particularly motability scheme abuse really fires me up. As you say virtually no power now to detect and prosecute.

For a start we need to stop making assessments remotely via just forms or video calls. Those with obvious physical disabilities should be automatically excluded from further assessments. Again, sounds great on paper, but what happens if they then get genuinely ill/disabled.Exclude people from claiming any benefits in future?
I agree entirely with what you say, the issue I have is with GP's.
