The Labour Government

The new Labour Government are more like a watered down Tory Government. I'll give them a chance, but they haven't been good since they've got into power. Starmer is far too indecisive and changes his mind/opinion like the weather. The country needs a stronger leader who isn't scared of making decisions that will upset people.

Who that is I have no idea. Nigel Farrage is too far right to be a Prime minister in this country.

You'd think Labour could do anything they like with a huge majority such as they have.

But this is not like the huge Blair or Thatcher majorities. They only got in because many people couldn't be arsed to vote and the vote on the right was split. So they have a parliamentary mandate but no popular mandate. Most people don't like them, many hate them. Then they start off with being rumbled about the various outrageous bungs and show no humility nor contrition. Not even a recognition at how appalled everyone was. Followed by bad decision after cock up after bad decision after U-turn. Now the media hate them as well.

Not to mention the economy is fucked with no room to do anything. It's a tough gig.

Not that I excuse the endless bad decisions and fuck ups.

That's possibly the case.

I'd just like a leader who sticks to his policies, rather than flipping every other minute. I'm sure many people in this country would be happy for him to raise taxes if it meant more money was being pumped into the public sector to get a better NHS, better education system, better social care, stricter law enforcement, effective public transport.

Also need to get people who can physically work back into work. Working people is what gets this country thriving again.

Labour are destroying the green belt near me. The infrastructure isn't in place to support this influx, traffic is already bad and local services are exhausted. Lovely views are also being decimated. Nice work

Why do the Labour supporters in here keep talking about another political party.... insecure or what? PMSL.
Just keeping you up to date.

Alternatively instead of moaning here, bugger off to the Reform or Brexit forums and start posting some positive things about how well those subjects are doing.

Doesn't your supplier set your tariff?
eh? Where did I say the supplier (British Gas in my case) don't offer or set my energy costs/tariffs?

The simple fact is Labour said my energy bills were going to be cheaper and in the real world they are going up by 7% since my last deal so they are not going down. Bear in mind that the rate of inflation is supposed to be 3.5% So that's 2 years worth of increase in one go. Labour say bills are going down, so an untrue claim.

I've tried uswitch and British Gas are the cheapest for my area (Ashton Under Lyne) according to them.

It's all lies and piss taking. Overcomplicated calculations to work out bills too. Just to confuse older people.

Did they say they would be cheaper this summer?

They have claimed to be reducing energy bills. It's a year on and I'm getting 7% increases.

By the end of this parliament is not good enough.

They (ofgem, independent :)))) can reduce the price cap but refuse to by more than piddling amounts. They reduce it in Summer when we dont use much then whack it up in winter .....its a big fiddle.

Ofgem not fit for purpose either and supposedly independent.

Remember people voted for them based on these promises he made.

The Tories were cunts for not getting us off the volatile gas markets approach too.
14 years of useless cunts.

Not been good. Ok - feel free not to participate in anything they do. If you get offered a quick GP appt remember to turn it down and ask to be put on a waiting list. If your kids or grandkids are offered breakfast turn them down and make sure they go to school hungry. Insist on attending a RAAC riddled clinic because you have no fear of dying in the rubble if it collapses. Insist on paying 13% more for everything rather the real inflation rate and ensure any borrowing you have is based around the 1% higher base rate than what it was a year ago.

Unfortunately this is where the system lets people down because there's nowhere to go to get it properly explained.

As soon as you go on a fixed tariff, the price cap DOES NOT apply. You have been on a fixed price tariff and are paying a premium for that guarantee as you will do if you continue on a fixed tariff. The new cap is set at £1720 per year assuming average usage, but clearly can be higher or lower than that depending on your personal usage. The important figures though are the prices per unit that are: 25.73p for electricity and 6.33p for gas.

If you go back onto a standard tariff then you are subject to the price caps but not on a fixed. FYI, I'm with Octopus and the fixed rate I'm on was 7% (22.5p for electricity and 5.61p for gas, so still lower than the price it has just come down to ) below the price cap back in October. The effect is I've been paying 8% less since then but will barely benefit from the recent price drop. It's swings and roundabouts.

On Labour though, they said your prices will come down over the lifetime of the parliament due to less reliance on imported energy.

If you let us know your usage, it may be that cheaper fixes are available or you may want to take the risk of being subject to the fluctuating cap. But also ensure that your fix tariff doesn't have any penalty clauses for leaving. A quick search came up with this, all much cheaper than BG Fixed Tariff v74 that you mentioned. It's not formatted properly but there are savings to be had.

EDIT: Let us know your usage and without being condescending I'm happy to have a search around for you.

Add it to the list! Wouldn't be needed if they took immigration seriously.

Until they get rid of Millibrain and his pathetic infatuation with net stupid zero, your bills are only going up.

We've already bunged billions of subsidies into "clean fucking pointless energy', which could have been better spent on bringing your bills down... Or caring for the vulnerable. But no, thsr utter nob head is hell bent on wasting your money so we can reduce global emissions by less than 1 percent. The utter dickhead.

And why will your bills never come down? Because when the wind stops and it is dark, we still need 100% power generation capacity or else we have power cuts. So with 100% renewables we ALSO need 100% spare conventional capacity. In short, we have to pay for two electricity generation systems, not one.

And further, when you look at the lifetime cost of wind and solar, including the manufacturing, maintenance and replacement cost, it's not even cheap.

The man is an utter imbecile.
