The race for the Top 4 - RUNNERS UP, a game to spare

Re: The race for the Top 4

I think the season is a disappointment if we finish any lower than 3, and even 3 is pushing it.

If we finish 4th it probably means the scum are above us. Now that is a f******g disaster.

Keep up - it's now considered an achievement to finish one place behind them ;-)

Re: The race for the Top 4

Irrespective of where we finish this season I would like to see a change in the perception of what we are training for.

Surely there should be a realisation that CL or even Europa L. football demands extra games during various times throughout the PL season together with the extra games that our Cup competitions require. This is the reality of the fixtures for several seasons now yet each year we see the evidence that our players are simply not up to the physical demands of plying their trade for 4 x 45 minutes per week.

Because they are professional athletes that specialise in football I would like to see some evidence that all of players can ALL compete by tracking back just as effectively as any of our opponents irrespective of their football talent.

At least this will nullify the extra workrate that all other teams seem to effectively use against us (whether Barca or Burnley).

Re: The race for the Top 4

Liverpool are out of it, we'll beat the scum at their place and Arsenal reliabliy and consistently fuck it up at the end.

Comfortable 2nd.

Maybe. Can you be sure he won't leave if we do qualify?

I've no idea what his plans are.

Re: The race for the Top 4

So some good results from a top 4 perspective with the dippers and Southampton losing but an expected rags win and a good Arsenal win has seen us drop out of the top 2 for the first time in a long time.

We now sit in 4th and Mondays game has become really important. Win that and we are at least 8 points clear of 5th if Spurs win and almost home and dry from a top 4 point of view.

Lose and we are still in the mix, especially if Spurs win with them still to play.

top 3 is a must so hopefully the players will raise their game and then kill the rags hopes with a derby win although they are 5/5 in the league and on a good run so that won't be easy.

At least it makes the end of the season interesting!

and yet half our lot have give up for the season, see the roll on the summer thread
everything to play for as far as i'm concerned, a reaction is required to going into 4th

Re: The race for the Top 4

Can you believe that it’s even possible that we’ll finish behind Utd - I mean, can you fucking believe it? I realise that by next Sunday we could be 5 points clear of the shithouses, but equally, we could be 4 points behind them.

If we finish behind that shower, Pellegrini should resign rather than be sacked - it would be fucking shameful.
