We can forget about any real quality midseason signings and the best outcome is we can secure them in January ready for next season. Stop gaps and maybe a loans is the what is currently available.

January we need signings!
Too many mid players in this team, we need a major refresh.
We ain't winning anything with this midfield and too many non-scoring players and a non-existing defense!
 
The issue is would Zubimendi would want to leave mid season? Real Sociedad are off the pace in the League but it is a major move and at the minute we aren't in a good position to really bed him in. It is sink or swim.

Yes, subtract the outgoings and the netspend trophy that we have won for the past few season, that should cover the "£400mil" but I suspect it would be around £325M

Rather Reinders than Barella. Also Van De Ven is probably not good enough on the ball. Hakimi is basically not available since City and PSG probably have some secret no poach deal. Can only see the last 3 options. Players like Livramento still exist. Personally I think we need 2 whole new RB. Lewis isn’t good enough.
 
Hello not posted on bluemoon forum for years but I'm gonna say let's go an get Samu Costa at Real Mallorca holding midfielder heez 24 tenacious and energetic just come into the Portugal squad he is on the cusp of a big move we need to get him in January for rodri replacement and the future heez a leader!!!
 
Usually we don't sign new players until someone leaves.

I fear that the CWC, which runs until mid-July, will affect our transfer business.
 
Definetly need a winger ,who can help out team and Haaland and but the ball in the net.every single one of our wingers are pretty poor finišers and shooters of the ball.Savinho maybe could be a decent one in the future but yesterday got so selfish and desperate to score a goal and that didnt help the team out at all.
 
Schlotterbeck - tall, quick and great at passing out from the back. Averages 6 long balls a game, been in team of the season twice despite being in a defensively suspect Dortmund team.

Goncalves - about as consistent for goals and assists as you can get over the last 5 years, can play either wing or through the middle. Could probably play false 9 also and gets decent defensive numbers for an attacker.

Dumfries - not much options for RB but he’s quick, physical and great in the air for a fullback. 6 months left on his contract.

Could get all three for about £120mil. All have been in title races and have consistent CL experience. They’re in their prime years and should contribute immediately.
 
we sticking with this diamond or 316 - buy two midfielders
we changin to a box again or something else - one is probably fine.

Fullbacks completely depends on Pep.

Since signing Rodri in 2019 the following Midfielders have been signed.

Grealish 2021
Phillips 2022
Kovacic 2023
Nunes 2023

Would any of these be considered a success in midfield for City. It’s odd because between them they have accumulated very few appearances in the middle.

How many of these need replacing by the summer?

Reijnders has 3 years left on his contract at the end of the season, with no release clause. Milan has made it clear they don’t want to sell, but if we can get him out, that would be great—especially since he's a year younger than Barella. Dias isn’t great on the ball either, yet we still bought him. That said, we need a fast CB and FB, and VDV can cover those positions. The main point is that we should prioritize signing a fast CB and FB, or ideally, a player who can cover both.

Hakimi hasn’t signed the contract extension and the current contract runs out in 2026. Maybe it's the political tension between them, I doubt there’s a "no-poach" clause and with just 1 year remaining at the end of the season, we might get him for a good price. I’m sure PSG doesn’t want more players leaving on a free transfer—it would make them look incompetent. Livramento is a good shout, but good luck dealing with the Saudis and negotiating him out of a contract with 3 years left at the end of the season when they are trying to build a team that can compete in the EPL and UCL.

Lewis, on the other hand, gets exposed against strong wingers. He’s still young and will learn, but I agree that we need someone who can handle world-class wingers.
