IF Cambiaso (or highly unlikely a DM) arrives now,
we have to add Rodri and Echeverri to a full A list.
Who of those 17 would leave?
I guess Kev and 1 of Gundo or Bernardo.
I also expect that Eddie OR Tego will be replaced by a younger non-HG keeper.
Every further incoming non-HG player (like in theory Wirtz) means that 1 of:
Dias, Akanji, Reis, Khusanov, Gvardiol,
Kovačić, Nunes or Doku
had to leave. So mainly 1 of the latter 3.
(Haaland, Omar and Savinho should be untouchable.)
Grealish and Aké could only be replaced by another HG player.
Carson could leave and be replaced by a HG field player when we add a club-trained keeper as new #3.
If we don't add a player NOW or only on loan,
we also would have 1 more spot come summer.
Bottom line, maybe there's much less change in summer than some expect...

Agreed but it could be a huge change in personnel and I still say that's not healthy.dont have to take them all, but there's a lot of guys that shouldnt be stopped if they want to leave.
I could see a couple of the older players staying for another season even if only to be used to pass on/help the younger players that have arrived.

That`s 6. Some uncertainties around Kovacic, Nunes and KDB staying. Nunes is a useful squad player being able to cover multiple positions, although Pep doesn`t seem to trust him centrally. This could change over the coming weeks/months though as he`s finally starting to look like the player he was at Wolves/Sporting. Personally I hope we extend KDB by 1 year and let Echeverri learn from him for 1.5 seasons
Ederson will be pretty much his choice, Stones would like to see stay until new lads bed in over at least the next season , Gundo - agree will need to go , Bernardo will stay , Grealish has lost Peps faith so we will need to sell. Think KDB will be gone at end of the season as well given wages and playing only 50% of the games at best - just don't think he will accept pay cut or being nursed through a season when he can be a star signing for a US team.Ederson (wants out)

Expect those 4 to go (think Ederson wants the Saudi payday) and we may have difficulty shifting Grealish permanently. New keeper required and a midfield rebuild with 2 at least required , possibly 3.

Keep Dias, and one of Stones/Ake/Akanji.
Sign a RB (hopefully Cambiasso gets done) and a LB (still think Robinson would be decent).
Move on at least two of Gundogan/Bernardo/KDB. Sell Grealish.
Sign Gonzalez (hopefully this window), sign another CM in the summer (I’d like Bruno G). Rodri, Gonzalez and Bruno would be a top quality starting midfield imo.
Feels like we are sorted in the forward positions.
Much to be done, and much to be spent.

This is just people playing football manager and not being realistic. When was the last time you saw a side dump 6/8/10 players at once?
Walker is gone already. One of kdb/gundo goes and i suspect we will retain the other for a further year as a squad option to avoid too much change at once. Grealish will be available to any interested parties but it will be a very hard sell, we'll do well to get rid of him before his contract is up in truth. They'll be the only departures we'll be actively looking to do although there may be others that want to leave and do so but they won't be forced out like alvarez last summer. So that is 3 out if we can with potentially a further couple if they want to move on, that's already a lot. replacing those that leave and adding this current windows signings and savinho from thr summer, that is a massive overhaul within 12 months, we'll be desperate to keep everybody else unless we want to just throw away next season too.

I gear from my point of view our biggest problem is style of play. We have too e away from the slow sluggish passing that puts the onus on Central defenders to orchestrate out offense inside the opponents half.
We simply have to avoid this at all cost. Kt is a losing formula.
We'd need uber superior talent to overcome this tactical deficiency.
No other team requires their CBs to do this...
