Just had a look at our next 3 League games and Arsenals next 3,our matches all ko before them at those weekends. Also time we play our Semi final we will have 2 in hand.

I only see Brighton and Chelsea with nothing to play for in tgat list.
Rest either Europe or relegation.
Going to be a ride and a half April and may.
It's a mad season. Everyone from Villa up is feasibly still in a shout for European football, and everyone from Palace down is feasibly in a relegation scrap. It'll shake out a bit as a the season progresses probably, but could see every club still having something to play for until the last couple of games.

It appears the media are enjoying the Goons eight point lead but after the Leeds game at the Emirates they have five tough games from their next six fixtures

Liverpool (away) the Dippers fighting for top four and ther Goons record at Klanfield as bad as ours
West Ham (away) London derby game and no love lost with West Ham fighting for survival
Southampton (home) The easiest of their remaining games
City (away) We have beaten them twice and the atmosphere will be electric we always rise to the occasion
Chelsea (home) Another London derby game , and Chelsea have a few individuals who can turn games
Newcasle (away) The Geordies got a draw at the Emirates and can see them doing the same at home

Alternatively we have a few games against traditionally tough opposition but they are all at the Etihad , ive just lumped on at Paddy Power at 7/5 longest odds we have had all season.

We're nowhere near squeaky bum time yet. The pressure the last 5 or 6 games bring are immense. Can Arsenal overcome that pressure? Only time will tell. They've got a very good young team yes, play some fantastic football yes, but, and there's always a but when you've got a raving lunatic in the dugout and I'm hoping his behaviour is going to transcend itself to the players on the pitch. Saying that, if they do win it, at least its not one of them vile pair of c***s! We'll come back much stronger next season.

What are the chances of this coming down to level points last game of the season and both teams being aware that it's essentially down to goal difference. Will we be seeing a genuine "next goal wins" scenario

I’ve always said that the only thing that could ever come close to matching 2011/12 is if we won the league via a play off after finishing with identical records to someone.

Minuscule chance of that happening any season though and as good as impossible this year.

Although if we’d beaten United 2-1 that year instead of 6-1, it would have been a play off. That’s obviously on the big assumption that all the other results happened as they did.

It wouldn't have been a playoff because we beat them home and away.

Head to head record was adopted as an additional tiebreaker by the PL in 2019.
Back in 2012 it was points, goal difference, goals scored and then a playoff.

I’ve always wondered why ‘Wins’ aren't considered in all of those tiebreakers n’all.

It seems away goals count double if it came down to head to head results now aswell, making a play off even more unlikely.

Would be fun though.

We should let Arsenal beat us 3-1 to keep it alive.

It’s not that I lack faith in our team, it’s that I lack faith in all the other teams Arsenal have to play.

I agree, but honestly, if we win all our games, and they win all their games except the one they lose, then they will have played terrifically over the season and will be worthy champions.
I suspect it'll all be more complicated than that scenario, though.

They'll say it's too late but 1 of our tbc games should have been in for Wednesday after the Dippers game, even if only provisionally dependant on cup runs etc.

They do this stuff all the time when it suits the authorities or tv companies.

The run in may derail a proper title challenge which makes a mockery of the competition.

Always thought postponed games should be played ASAP and not shunted to the end of the season!

Brighton and West Ham are both playing midweek that week so not possible unfortunately.

To be fair, our games that were postponed in the aftermath of the Queen’s death (Spurs at home and Arsenal away) were rearranged relatively quickly especially when the World Cup is taken into account and the also considering that both were TV games so the broadcasters had a say in things.
West Ham and Brighton are both playing games postponed following the Queen’s death in that midweek at the start of April. Had either of those clubs been a bit keener to play sooner, we might have been able to fit one of our games in then. But as it stands, neither will be happening until May.
