All you want is it to be in our hands, which it is now. Win all our league games and it's ours. We've been down this road before and judging by the Arsenal players reactions they know what's chasing them, especially Zinchenko. Be some more twists and turns on the run home but I'll back us in to do it once again from here.

Playing games every 3/4 days suits us to, meanwhile they've only got league games to play and it looks like it's weighing them down. They got lucky to beat Bournemouth and Villa not long ago and you can only win on luck for so long.

Assuming we both win our games between now & then, we'll go into the Arsenal game in the slightly odd position of being 9 points behind but with 2 games in hand.

And with (probably) several extra cup games to fit in, that Arsenal don't have.

That feels like quite a difficult position for City, psychologically ?
Yep, if we get past Bayern we’ll have played 6 extra games compared to Arsenal between now and the last Premier League game and hopefully 2 more after that.
That would be 8 left to play for them and 16 for us if all goes well.

I think it’s safe to say that Pep will make a shit load of changes for the semi final. Should still be good enough to win that game though.

But, but, but, but ........City have a bigger squad....

Arsenal's coach leaving Anfield....

Yep it will feel like continual catch-up.

Assuming we beat Leicester and they beat West Ham and Southampton, we beat them to go 6 points behind with 2 games in hand.

They then play Chelsea at home on the 29th April and if they win we are 9 points behind with 3 games in hand.

We the play 3 games on the bounce in 1 week before they play again.
Fulham (a) - 30th April
West Ham (h) - 3rd May
Leeds (h) - 7th May

Win those 3 and we probably go top on goal difference. But they play their toughest game Newcastle (a) directly after we've played Leeds...

Obviously all huge, but bar the obvious huge Arsenal game, Fulham away stands out.

Most of the board is assuming that Arse will try and bore a point against us, we may find that they'll need a win to keep with us (especially with potentially a couple of games in our back pocket).

A draw to leave them 2/3 points in front when we have 6 more points to play for than them is going to fuck them up big style.

I hope they play for a draw against us. There's no circumstance where that'd be good for them.

One game at a time Leicester at home next let’s not fall foul to them at the moment not having a manager in place and us thinking it’s a nailed on win ..
Exactly.
Last time we had things in our own hands after beating Arsenal at the Emirates, we dropped points at Forest a few days later. Get the Bayern game done and dusted and then concentrate on Leicester - nothing gained by looking beyond that.

100%. In fact that’s why I’ll be giving this thread a wide birth from now on. It’s all about the next game and only that. See you on the pre-match threads!

Sometimes they do. There is a lot of luck in footy as it’s a low scoring game. Leicester had the most points when they won the league but were far from the best team. Goal difference, to name one, is a better predictor of future success than points believe it or not.

Luck never evens itself out over only 38 games.
Going to have to agree to disagree over this, Leicester were worthy champions and beat all the other teams over the course of the season. They came to the Etihad and put in a great display at the business end of the season

Was looking at Arsenals run in and one fixture jumped out ..... not that I think they will lose it.

If you are looking for omens in a tight title race they are at home to Wolves final day. As were Liverpool both last season and in 2019.
I like omens like that. It's just the Damien types I stay away from.
