Anyoe else notice the way that Spuds players are all developing this jolly spiffing short back and sides but gentleman's flop haired RAF pilot hairstyle ?

So it's 'Scotty' Parker passing to Gareth 'Buffy ' Bale....even that Geordie lad they interviewed on MOTD had the same WW2 barnet...

I agree with everything you said except for the press hammering AVB. I think they will understand he did a good job.

I mentioned before how Levy makes mistakes by wrangling over a million when a player would be vital to the team. Javier Martinez is a perfect example of when you need to pay over the odds to get a player to complete your team. Not doing so will cost you in the long run.

Press have already started to say he's overseen regression in league placements. My favourite Talksport pundit is one if them - Durham.

Its a shame, because ultimately your squad was weaker this year and you fought in all competitions. Gallas is not as good as he was last year, Adebayor was the lazy Adebayor signed on a contract instead of the hungry one. Then as good as Demebele is, Modric is still better and VDV is better than Holtby. Throw in Chelsea being significantly better this year and coming fifth is in no way taking the team backwards. Sandros injury was a huge blow. I actually thought you would not make top 4 when he got injured.

How do you progress from this is the problem. I wanted Tottenham to make top 4 so they could get to the next level, but now Bale is probably off to Madrid.

I'm a City fan mate, just love to watch and debate all teams rather than just City.

As for Spurs, selling Modric and VDV and replacing with Dempsey, Dembele, Siggurddson and Holtby was good for the swaud but yes it definitely weakened the first eleven quality.

I think they are well positioned to build going forward but they need to keep Bale. They sell him and they lose any momentum they have and also make an unconscious statement of intent that they are happy being an also ran.

Ekkoto had a good season last year but has been hot and cold when not injured this year, Danny Rose will be a great replacement for him, very impressed with him at Sunderland.

If I were Spurs I'd look for a CB and a striker. If they move Parker on then replace him.

Spurs fans will have you believe that Kaboul will be all fit next season so no need for a new CB.
Their midfield is a problem as well. Sandro, Dembele seem to be injury prone and when they are not playing, the drop in quality is very noticeable.

Upfron, defoe blows cold very frequently and Adebayor is well.... Adebayor

Kaboul, no chance. I rate Caulker and Vertonghen though, I like Rose too. Walker isn't warranting his hype either and no fucking way was he better than Richards last year!

Sandro imo is the best holding mid in the league, I've rated him for a while and I will never know why Redknapp chose parker over him. Incredible really. But yeah he's made of the same fibre as his fellow countryman and national team starting place rival Lucas, glass.

I have always liked Defoe and remember how incredible he was at Portsmouth. He is better than Adebayor but again he's made of glass and is a 'feast or famine' kind of player. Either scores 2 in a game or hits the Maxwell House out of the fans hands in Row Y.

Have you not noticed that most people under the age of "old" tend to have that haircut these days

Kaboul is quality. I rate him higher than Vertonghen. Huge loss for them last season. Sandro too.

I agree that AVB did a good job when you consider their transfers last summer and injuries too.

72 points is a great points total. They were unfortunate not to make the top 4 with that.

They need to spend this summer though and I don't just mean replace outgoing players as they did last year.

Its the same old Spurs. As usual they hit a great run in from January to late March then just fall away. I think with Arsenal and Chelsea finishing so well this season. Next season they will be much stronger. Arsenals defence was the best I have seen in s number of years in the run in to the end of this season. I honestly think Arsenal next season if they spend will get closer to City and the Rags along with Chelsea. Next year may well be the best and closest title race of all with 3 to 4 teams in the running for it for me.

Spurs playing on the Thursday and Sunday will find it hard again. Sell Bale or keep him. I just dont think Bale will be as good as he has been the past 2 years. He will get the teams going all out to stop him more and more. Also he needs to stay injury free for Spurs to have any chance of claiming a top 4 spot. I think selling him and buying 2 to 3 players in other areas might well get the best for Spurs in the longterm as in they will get more players and stronger squad.

I think Bale will stay if Levy can convince him that they have plans to strengthen their squad

When you consider just how good Bale was this season, it's a poor outcome to finish 5th. And the striking problems were clear for all to see so Levy only has himself to blame

I'm not a fan of AVB either. He had some very strange defensive set-ups in European fixtures with slow defenders pushed high up the pitch leaving them as sitting ducks

Bale's basically kept them up there

But if they could keep Bale and buy a centre-forward, they'd be able to go from 5th to 3rd at least. And that would possibly be enough for Bale. He's 23 not 29. So there's no rush like there was for RVP

Reading reports that Bale has said on Sky that he's had offers from Madrid and the rags, but he would prefer to stay in England if he leaves Spurs.

Genuine?

You've just taken that defensive stuff from Chelsea discussion haven't you?

You do realise he won a treble with this 'very strange defensive set up' don't you?

Barca brought it in, Porto copied and AVB was told by Roman to make Chelsea the new Barca. He copied the methods that won him a treble (common sense to use a winning formula) but he didn't have players to do it, he should've in hindsight said to Roman that the players weren't capable of it. He could have seen the season out and then got the players required then.

Harry was sacked so AVB could get spurs to challenge for the title, Instead... They have ended up on Channel 5

Sky Germany says from information of "London Evening Standard" that Bale has signed a new contract with Tottenham.

Here is the link to the article:
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...ntract-to-stay-at-spurs--for-now-8623742.html

Many numbers have floated about but a couple of articles have sat around the £170k mark which imo is most likely.

Even at that I can't see Bale rushing to sign just yet. If he has any sense he'll sit tight and see which way the wind blows before commiting to anywhere. There's no rush and when he sees bigger clubs show their hand he'll leave imo.

No. By defensive set-up I didn't mean he's a defensive coach. I was thinking back to the high line he played at the San Siro with Gallas stranded near the half-way line whilst Inter played little through balls in behind him. I wasn't charaterising him as a defensive coach but questioning his tactics with his defence in games I'd seen
